Hopefully Saturday puts to rest our QB woes...

JG quite simply is, and has been, the sunk cost fallacy playing out in the most excruciating fashion imaginable.

He stunk the day he stepped on campus
(As a player). One dimensional (long floater down the sideline) and a “deer in the highlights” performance about 75% of the snaps in his career here. He cost us 5 victories in the last two years. Who knows how many victories we missed out on in the first two years. Our offensive playbook was severely limited in the four years he has seen action. He never was SEC caliber and his HS stats indicated this. He was offered a scholarship here only because Butch and his Dad were long term acquaintances.
Why did Ohio State prioritize him? Why did both Florida and Bama try to flip him late? We know how he turned out, but he was highly recruited.

He was recruited by some good programs for sure. They're thankful they didn't "win".... just being cute.

In all seriousness, he wouldn't have sniffed the starting job at any of those programs and would have ended up somewhere else or a career back up.

I need to borrow your time machine sometimes...would’ve never bought that one house.

Are Maurer and Shrout still in the mix or is this basically a JG and Bailey battle?
We'll start JG. Somewhere around mid Q2, we'll throw a pick 6. Instead of cutting any of the QB's loose and not play scared, Chaney/Pruitt, will insert HB with an offense a high schooler could run, by handing the ball off every play or throw 3 yard out patterns on 3rd and 10. JG to come back in midway thru the 4th Qtr, down by 35 points, and he'll look like a Heisman contender throwing for 300 yards in half a quarter...

I don't think JG is even going to be available Saturday but keep up with the predictions, that's a good one you've got there! Lol

Wondering why recruits are leaving, it's because of so called fans like yourself posting such garbage
Sure. It has absolutely nothing to do with the dumpster fire that is TN Football and the sudden instability of the coaching situation.

Recruits will decommit from a message board poster stating his opinion. You are absolutely correct.

If they do play Bailey they need to coordinate the offense better, particularly against teams like Florida who has better talent. We have a very good run blocking line. We need to play pound the ball football and have HB throw the ball no more than 25 times a game. 20 would be preferable. If they'd done that with Auburn we might have won.

My point here is that it's not enough to change QBs. They need to be coached better too

I think most on here "like JG". Kid has heart. We just don't like him as our QB.
Not sure I agree with that comment. Many/most of the negative comments about JG on this forum are classless and cowardly. He plays as hard as he can. He has above average skills. Is he a winning SEC qb - unfortunately, no. Is he the best qb on the roster? Apparently, yes. Have we whiffed on qbs - or failed to develop what we have - absolutely, yes...

Recruits drop their commitments at every school every year. The only reason we have a sudden instability of the coaching staff is because a faction of our fanbase has gone off the deep end over this ridiculous Covid related season. It's possible that the healing could come when we all least expect it to, and I mean that's Saturday if any of the football gods are reading this!

IF JG starts then Pruitt is just being an arse at this point and deserves to be fired for straight up stubbornness.

Jesus...😅.

And I think it's a valid picture.
All of those teams have picked him off.

This is 100% not true. JG may have the most knowledge of the playbook of all the QBs, but he cannot execute what he knows. Knowledge alone does not make him the best. We saw glimpses of BM last year that showed he had the potential to be better. And what limited amount we've seen of HB shows he is a better QB. He just hasn't learned the playbook yet.

And yes, folks have taken their shots at JG, myself included, but it is generally over his lousy QB play. Majority of posters agree he's a good kid, tough kid with a big heart. He wants to do well, he just can't. It's not all his fault, but most of it is.

. Have you witnessed the QBs in practice and in scrimmages? I haven’t but know several who have. According to those folks, JG is the best QB on the roster. Sad, but accurate.

We already know he “practices the best”.

Nope. I only witnessed what I've seen on the film and in youtube videos and such. For stat geeks...HB far outweighs JG. It's not even close. Eye test proves HB is better too.

JG had a total of 23 Passing TDs in High School...that's all four years. 12 rushing TDS. TOTAL OF 35 TDS.

HB had 21 in just his freshman year. 23 with the rushing TDs. He had 120 TDs passing total, 127 with rushing TDs included. 127>35

JG has 78 career TDs (Rushing and passing) for four years of high school and 5 years of college. 9 years.

HB has 127 TD in his high school and limited Time at TN.

12000 yards compared to 3000 yards.
.021 Int rate compared to .038 int rate.

This is just stats. Actually watching the two you can tell HB is a much more confident QB with more ability.

Explain how JG is the Better QB?

Pruitt played a bigger role in Bailey’s lack of development than COVID tracing.
When he can't practice because of covid restrictions how is that Pruitt's fault? Then just when he gets close to being cleared to practice most of the receivers fall under those restrictions. I blame the poor QB play on the QB coach. We need to cut ties with a couple of assistants.
