Hope all you clowns that ripped Dave Clawson hold your head in shame

He is barely over .500 and has a losing record at Wake. Congrats, look forward to his Hall of Fame speech.
I also do not think you get it. The places he has been a head coach were a mess when he took over but he eventually started winning. He turned around Fordham, Richmond, Bowling Green and now Wake Forest. So far he has been a great head coach.

Wake Forest is not a powerhouse program. Plus it is a very strong academic school and I believe there are academic standards their players have to meet as well. But it is a place where coaches like Jim Grobe and now Dave Clawson have had success. Honestly, I hope he stays at Wake Forest but Clawson is young enough to where more money might entice him to leave and go elsewhere.
I’m thinking Florida State comes after him

I think Fulmer made the wrong hire w Pruitt....but it baffles me how people hold Fulmer in such disdain when he was the last coach to not only win a natty here but have us as legit elite program for years. Look where we are now compared to where we were w Fulmer. We were consistent top 5 in the country. Respected. Legit college football force. We beat Bama all the time...and at least every once in a while beat Florida.... although I was disappointed we didn't beat them more. Now? Seriously look where we are. Our program was light years ahead of what it's become. We aren't even on the college radar as far as being a force. We aren't even ranked and we were always at least ranked w Fulmer. Oh..but the recruiting slipped one year and we had a losing record one year. "Whoa...UT is so much better than this. Fulmer's gotta go." There are legit criticisms of Fulmer but what we had going.....worked. I enjoyed driving to Teeters Market in Tennessee Ridge on a Saturday morning...getting a coffee and a biscuit and sitting down with the Tennessean newspaper reading the preview of the 3rd ranked Vols game that day. It was normal... expected. Now look where we are. To the point beating Florida would be like Austin Peay beating LSU. For me...the Fulmer days were a glorious time of legitimacy and respect... despite any flaws most you guys like to keep harping on as we prepare to watch the unranked Vols play Florida without a chance in hell of winning.

OP, respectfully, your argument / condemnation is logically flawed. If Jeremy Pruitt continues his NFL career to the point to where Bellicheck looks like a loser, then that does not change suckage that he brought to us one iota.

He was the OC in name, but Fulmer was the real OC. Fulmer was responsible for the flip flopping offensive line and the passivity of the play calling. He was out to prove that it wasn't Cutcliffe who was the mind. But, Fulmer couldn't even stay awake in his own meetings. He would go to OL meetings, eat Jimmy Ray's wife's cookies that she would bring the OL and take a nap. Per multiple players on the team that I know.
I don't doubt it. Fulmer was average without Cutcliffe. Then he had the audacity to hire Pruitt AND take a big buyout after resigning.

OP is a funny guy. So, you wait until Wake has beaten a really bad Virginia team, whose only FBS win is over a 1-3 Illinois team. Wake has beaten an Old Dominion team and an FSU team that rank in the bottom 25 of the FBS. And their fourth win; an FCS team. The current Vols would be 4-0 with that schedule. Oh, and it doesn’t get harder; Wake will play their first Top 50 team in their 9th game of the season! Not good coaching; good scheduling of crappy teams. Wake continues to benefit from a continuing drop of the ACC (which will be in the running for the worst Power 5 conference this year). I guess Boston College’s coach is great too 😂😂

The guy’s won EVERYWHERE he’s been except here which was due to the head coach not letting him do his job.

CLAWSON would’ve been a solid successor to Fulmer if he’d been trusted by PF and given the opportunity to do his thing.

Just another of Fulmer’s blunders that’s led to where we are now,

Dude. It is common knowledge that we did not have the personnel to fit Clawson’s offense. Fulmer was fired along with Clawson because of the pressure from our stupid fans and boosters. We haven’t seen a 10 win season since we let the guy go who won 10 wins one season before he actually hired Clawson.

Ha! He knew what he did to Majors and had that in the back of his mind.

Fulmers blunders are EXACTLY why we are where we are now!

LOL...

the quarterbacks went to Fulmer in late September and asked him to take over play calling which he refused. Fulmer was not even up enough on play book to be able to call Clawson's offense. It was unique. I knew Dave and he was certain there would be struggles during year one and there was. He had a complex system.

Now if you can bring out something to refute this I will take it back. It wasn't Fulmer meddling...

Fulmer was a good/great coach at one point in his time at Tenn. However, the game has evolved over time and he didn't.

He was not willing to learn from the "new" upcoming coaches and make changes. This fault of Fulmer caused the failure of Clawson.

This is one area where Saban is really good..!! Not sure exactly what he learned from Butch, but perhaps there was something.
