Hope all you clowns that ripped Dave Clawson hold your head in shame

That debacle is squarely on Mike Hamilton. Fulmer just got a contract extension. I'm sure that played a part in bringing in a coach from Richmond. Fulmer knew he was talented but needed time, which he felt was there due to the extension. I've also heard Hamilton was in favor of replacing Summitt. Hamilton lit a match and then threw it in a dumpster.

Replace Summitt because she was the most successful coach in the history of her sport, a living legend and pioneer who was still on top winning natty's?

Might want to question your sources more, not even Hamilton was that stupid

He's an ACC Mark Stoops.

He's never had a winning conference record at Wake, but he's getting them to bowl games, and the admin is fine with that sort of outcome.

Yup. And that's great for him and them. Seems some people don't know how to differentiate between the levels

The guy’s won EVERYWHERE he’s been except here which was due to the head coach not letting him do his job.

CLAWSON would’ve been a solid successor to Fulmer if he’d been trusted by PF and given the opportunity to do his thing.

Just another of Fulmer’s blunders that’s led to where we are now,
This is such a lame take.

He was OC for 11 months. You can’t change offense in 11 months!! It was a good hire. Needed a couple of recruiting classes. Was building the first one , Tajh Boyd and Bryce Petty both committed, with a number 5 ranking in the country, when they fired Fulmer. Big mistake, HUGE MISTAKE!!!! .

In 2007 Tennessee played LSU in the SEC Championship game and lost when Eric Ainge threw 2 interceptions in the fourth quarter. I remember that, it was shocking.

The next year, our Coach, who had one of the best winning records of all Coaches in college football, an unbeaten season, and a National Championship, was fired before the end of the season. UT administration shamed themselves when they treated Coach Fulmer with no respect and appreciation for all his years as player and Coach for the University of Tennessee. The press conference was almost unbearable to watch. It felt wrong. The team was so shaken they lost the next game which was Wyoming. Coach Fulmer had hired Clawson as Offensive Coordinator early that year. By the end of the year Clawson had lost his job along with our Head Coach. I remember Clawson saying he and his family hadn’t even finished unpacking.

There's no doubt that he's a good football coach. But he runs a niche system and we know that niches don't always work in the SEC.

I think he's at the perfect place being at a school like Wake Forest. His success there says nothing about his time here though.

Your rhetoric seems a little harsh. Clowns?

His record at Bowling Green was 32-31. His record at Wake Forest is 44-45. They are 4-0 right now with wins over Old Dominion, Norfolk State, Florida State and Virginia.

Is he a good coach who can build a program over time? Sure.

Are you getting a little carried away because you wanted an excuse to attack the Tennessee fan base? Definitely.

Every roster with that QB room was going to be a bad fit. They were the worst I’ve ever seen.

Fulmer also let the offensive line get lazy when Cut wasn’t around. Remember the first thing Cut said when he got here was how badly in shape the O-Line was

Fulmer sucked at the end. He got lazy, the game passed him by and was interfering with his coaches thinking he knew more. He’s the reason the program started to crumble. He should have been grateful he got $6M to be fired. He didn’t deserve it at all.

We should have fired him after 2005.

Also after seeing Fulmer make our program worst after he took over as AD, I’m gonna side with Dave on that one. He got screwed.

One of the best Offensive Coordinators in college football (Phil Fulmer) was coaching for his life and had one year to prove himself. What does he do, goes and hires a coordinator from Richmond to hang his entire career on. As we know it bombed, not because of Clawson was bad, but because Phil got lazy. Phil the (Head Coach) could not belittle himself to do double duty (as Phil offensive coordinator) for one year and save his job. Oh well, he did it his way.
Clawson was the HC at Richmond and lost in the championship or round before. I talked myself into being excited over the hire…but it was a bad one.

He was hired at the wrong time. Fulmer needed to win that season and Clawson offense was going to take a few years to learn and have a impact. It was just bad timing.
If I recall correctly Fulmer even defended him in interviews and said that it would take a few years for that offense to get going. So I think Fulmer and Clawson just had to try and run an offense with the talent they currently had. Then there were games we should have won that year like the UCLA game and of course the Wyoming game.

They also had Tajh Boyd and Bryce Petty both committed to Tennessee. Look how successful their college careers were at Clemson and Baylor. I still wonder how well they would have done at Tennessee. Of course Kiffin ran both of them off.

He is barely over .500 and has a losing record at Wake. Congrats, look forward to his Hall of Fame speech.
Wake Forest is not a powerhouse program. Plus it is a very strong academic school and I believe there are academic standards their players have to meet as well. But it is a place where coaches like Jim Grobe and now Dave Clawson have had success. Honestly, I hope he stays at Wake Forest but Clawson is young enough to where more money might entice him to leave and go elsewhere.
