The guy’s won EVERYWHERE he’s been except here which was due to the head coach not letting him do his job.

CLAWSON would’ve been a solid successor to Fulmer if he’d been trusted by PF and given the opportunity to do his thing.

Just another of Fulmer’s blunders that’s led to where we are now,

He was hired at the wrong time. Fulmer needed to win that season and Clawson offense was going to take a few years to learn and have a impact. It was just bad timing.

Maybe it’s our ADs fault for not persisting with them for a few years. Fulmer was scared so he naturally got conservative. Should have kept both of them

They were just talking about that on the ESPN broadcast about how Wake Forest theory is to "get old and stay old," meaning redshirt your freshmen, recruit 3 stars that are going to be committed and not ready to leave when they don't get the starting job, and roll them over. UT does seem to have a troubling tendency to always be young. Seems every year when we're getting slapped by Alabama or Florida or Georgia the broadcasters drag out how young UT is--how 65% of the roster are soph. and freshmen. Tough to compete short or long term with these 8-10 member upper classes.

Just coz he succeeded before and after does not mean Clawson was a failure as OC here. You can blame it on whoever you want but the fact is he was OC and our offense sucked. Act like a grown up and take responsibility of the job.. I am sure Clawson does but not his apologists.

He’s won everywhere but the SEC. He’s a good coach, but no one knows what he’d a done at Tennessee as head coach. Regardless, we’ve had other chances to right the ship and senior leadership has failed at just about every juncture. I wish we would’ve hired Lance Leipold. Josh Heupel wanted the job and I’m rooting for him to win in a big way.

That debacle is squarely on Mike Hamilton. Fulmer just got a contract extension. I'm sure that played a part in bringing in a coach from Richmond. Fulmer knew he was talented but needed time, which he felt was there due to the extension. I've also heard Hamilton was in favor of replacing Summitt. Hamilton lit a match and then threw it in a dumpster.

Can he be our OC and HC in waiting. Or better yet let’s Hire Art Briles as OC/HC in waiting snd hire Kendall Briles as WR coach

He was the OC in name, but Fulmer was the real OC. Fulmer was responsible for the flip flopping offensive line and the passivity of the play calling. He was out to prove that it wasn't Cutcliffe who was the mind. But, Fulmer couldn't even stay awake in his own meetings. He would go to OL meetings, eat Jimmy Ray's wife's cookies that she would bring the OL and take a nap. Per multiple players on the team that I know.

He is barely over .500 and has a losing record at Wake. Congrats, look forward to his Hall of Fame speech.

One of the best Offensive Coordinators in college football (Phil Fulmer) was coaching for his life and had one year to prove himself. What does he do, goes and hires a coordinator from Richmond to hang his entire career on. As we know it bombed, not because of Clawson was bad, but because Phil got lazy. Phil the (Head Coach) could not belittle himself to do double duty (as Phil offensive coordinator) for one year and save his job. Oh well, he did it his way.
