Tommy Lasorda stepping out onto the field was always greeted by loud booing at AFCS. Usually, he sent his pitching coach out to the mound. Once, when the Braves were teeing off on the Dodgers pitcher from the get go, he walked out to the mound himself. There were over 10,000 fans there, that day. We all stood and booed loud enough to drown out a jet engine. We briefly jeered the starting pitcher slumping towards the dugout, then returned to lustily booing Lasorda. When Lasorda finally walked back to the dugout, he tipped his hat to the crowd. The boos crescendoed.

The Gwinnett Buttons (OK, they call themselves the Stripers, but I don't acknowledge it. I and a passel of folks suggested the name, Buttons, and that name garnered the most votes from the public, but the asshat management defied the will of the people.) are currently 27-19 on the season, 1&1/2 games back of the Durham Bulls and a game ahead of Charlotte. The IL South is competitive between these three teams, with the Norfolk Tides pulling up the drag at 20 - 24 (the only losing team in the division).
