I saw this in Times Free Press this morning...

tfpOnline: Process begins for McMasters
On the day he officially became a top college basketball recruit, Carter McMasters was busy being a regular teenager.

A few weeks after his 16th birthday and a few months before the start of his junior year at Grace Academy, college coaches were allowed direct contact with the 6-foot-10 forward for the first time.

Or, they would have been, if they’d been able to reach him.

"I was over at a friend’s house," McMasters said with a shrug. "My mom said the phone was ringing off the hook while I was gone, and I had all these messages from coaches."

Since June 15, the contact has come directly to him and his family, and visits from college coaches at practices and games have become more norm than novelty.

McMasters already has taken unofficial visits to Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Clemson and Georgia Tech, but the list of schools interested in offering him a scholarship is much longer.

And at this point, he has no real preference for any of them. The most important thing, he said, is to find the school that’s the right fit for him.

Any of you gurus know anything about this boy??

he is pretty much a pansy for his size..i have seen him play several times...for instance, when they played against phillip jurick, he did not even guard jurick b/c he was not agressive enough. he prefers 3-pointers over posting up.

McMasters is more of a wing than a post. He could be a good 3 if he gets a little more consistent with his jumper.

We don't need more Wayne Chism's or Ryan Childress's

We need all the Wayne Chism's we can get!!!

Chism is going to be a stud in this league. I think he has played pretty well for a freshmen. Give the kid a break!!

We dont need more Wayne Chism's? Are you kidding?

We don't need any 6-9 guys shooting three's when our second tallest player is 6'4. Sorry, that's just not smart for us. If he would be a back-to-the-backet player I wouldn't say that, but right now he is not playing the way he should. He needs the red light from the perimeter, yet he doesn't have it.

Yeah, the kid isn't an inside presence at all, but he has the potential to be a good player. To me, he can be put in the same mold as Dirk Nowitski. Big tall guy that dribbles and shoots jumpers and 3s. Only problem is, McMasters' shot isn't close to being there yet. But remember the kid is just a junior. East Ridge's coach said something very true while talking about Jurick, and it applies to McMasters as well...""Everywhere we play, the crowd will have critics who critique him and why he's getting all this attention. What people need to understand is these top colleges are looking at him for what he can be for them three years from now, not just now." Both of these big men are working their butts off to become the players they can be, the only question is whether or not they can get there. Obviously top tier programs see something special.

Yeah, but he's not. He's a 28% 3 point shooter. He's not exactly hitting them.

Thanks for the heads up Coach Pearl. I didn't know you posted on here but it is good to see that you no longer give Chism or, any of our posts, the green light when open.

Sorry I upset you for pointing out the obvious that any person who knows basketball should know. Should I mock you every time you post something?

Well, you are the one arguing with Pearl's philosophies, not me. He gives his players the green light to shoot whenever open. He has always been that way. That is one of the reasons that he recruits the players he recruits. He liked both Childress and Chism's ability to shoot the 3 as posts coming out of HS.

Apparently Bruce doesn't know basketball then. So you think you could hook me up since you must make millions as a hotshot coach? Must be a much better coach than Pearl since you know basketball and he doesn't.

UTLCA has no arguement. Wayne Chism is a true freshman. UTLCA... get a clue. Your avatar is JaJaun Smith. He isn't exactly lighting it up from the perimeter... and sometimes throws up idiotic shots. Are you're talking bad of Wayne Chism?
