Hooker waived by Lions

This is the reality. Sucks. At least he made some good money. I hope he finds a spot somewhere.
The reality is, the Titans ruin every QB that comes through Nashville. Ward looks legit and I really hope it works out but the odds are against it. And yall please don’t wish the Raider curse on him either. He will get a shot. Another good quality chance. He has huge upside. His age is even a bigger issue now. Agent prudent put him in a place with real with opportunity l. Detroit was never it.

He was never going to get reps over Goff unless Goff just sucked. The NFL is as much as money game as anything else. Dollars=their investment in you
That's why when you get clean up and camp time to shine so they trade you some place else that you may get a shot.
Look at Milton. Now QB2 at Dallas will probably see the field sometime during the season. If he does good and shows enough, traded again but to someone wanting a cheap starter

I believe the talk around Thornton was he has great gifts but is really raw for running pro style routes. That's likely true of lots of rookies but there's some pointing at "the UT veer and shoot offense is hard to scout for the pro level."

It apparently is. We're winning so no reason to complain as long as we can recruit high level athletes to keep winning.

If I had an elite D Lineman kid, I'd tell them to look at Rodney Garner and UT and look at Larry Johnson at Ohio State. These guys will provide you with the education of how to play the game at the next level.

If I had an elite QB kid, I'd probably tell a kid to look at what Lincoln Riley has done with QBs in recent years to get them ready for the NFL.

If I have an elite WR prospect, Brian Hartline at Ohio State not only recruits high level talent but he gets results for that talent in the NFL often.

Getting the "next level talent" that brings home championships in college means getting guys that know they can play on Sunday and getting them means showing them you will coach them up to be ready on Sunday.
RG3, Landry Jones, Sam Bradford, Case Keenum, Drew Lock all played in a version of this offense and we're at minimum on a team for a good amount of time. RG3 had good numbers his first 2 seasons before the injury. Bradford had a few good years too. And Jaxson Dart ran a similar offense and just got drafted and is supposedly doing good with the Giants.

As for WRs, Josh Gordon, Kenny Stills, Kendall Wright, Terrance Williams, Donnie Avery all had productive years in the NFL with Josh Gordon being a problem.

It's not the system. It's the talent of the player and the situation they're put in.

Well I'm hoping Hooker can turn it around. I'm also not convinced the Lions can develop a young QB though. Goff was already established well before he got to Detroit.

Franchise QBs aren't easy to find, only a handful of teams have one. You could say the same thing about the Bills until they found Josh Allen, and the Chiefs before they found Mahomes.
Or the Saints until Jameis,Raiders until JaMarcus,Niners until Alex Smith, Browns before Couch. All franchise QBs Until the season begins. I’m really excited and cheering for Ward but if history is any indication the Titans will screw him up. Thats facts bro

I guess history says most teams screw up their QBs until they find one they can't screw up. Is that how it works?

Where did you gather that? I’m saying that in a league where the objective is to perform 4th grade math, those who are able to solve calculus problems are not appreciated.
If your objective is to cross the street are you going to create a statistical breakdown of crossing the street before doing so, or will you just cross it? The ability to break things down before the game and simplify it for the sake of speed and continuity for all players is much more valuable than you're implying.

The whole "dumbing it down" thing is based on a few of these QBs coming into the league having had the plays/formation coming in over the headsets to the QBs in college, plus the fact most of the QBs coming into the league never took snaps under center. Of course the methodology and procedures have to be simplified.

That’s exactly right. And….each attempt is > 50% chance to fail. Which means statistically speaking Cam Ward will probably be a fail. I don’t think he will. I really hope he succeeds. It’s simply just a fact that’s been proven over time. I really don’t understand what’s so complicated.

So you aren't saying it's just a Titans problem, it's a league wide problem. I agree with that. But to say "oh, it's the Titans, they will ruin him regardless" that I don't agree with.

Yeah. That’s fair. I falsely implied the Titans as the problem. Didn’t mean to. Lord knows they’ve tried. I loved the VY pick ,Mariota too. It’s just part of the game. Some guys grow and evolve and some don’t. I really think Ward is one that will. He’s a worker. That’s been the narrative at least . It does seem like some franchise/position combos are just cursed tho like theTitans, Raiders, Browns at QB

Much of it has to do with the shat organizations drafting these guys at the top of the draft. Since getting out of Cleveland, where he actually led them to the playoffs one year, Baker Mayfield has flourished in Tampa Bay. Sam Darnold has had an amazing turn around since leaving the NJ Jets
