Hooker waived by Lions

Hooker was never really given a chance. Every time I saw him, the defensive line was blasting his offensive line. Every time he handed off the running back got killed. He was playing with 2nd and 3rd units the whole time. Can't help but think with his work ethic and character, he has a chance to resurface. Would be great to see him get to play with the same unit as Goff. I think Detroit was just a bad fit. Hoping he gets another opportunity.

I'm not so sure Hooker just wasn't the victim of the trade for Goff working out much better than Detroit could have dreamed.

I honestly believe the Lions drafted HH planning to give him a solid shot to develop into a starter once they were able to dump Goffs contract.

Goff got a say in the matter also however and resurrected his career the last two years. Good problem to have if you are Detroit.

Once Goff stopped playing like a joke and because a decent QB again, Hooker just didn't really have much of a shot.

detroits offense wasn't a fit for him. would like to see him in tennessee, or denver. selfishly.
Titans got Ward at #1 pick and has the whole team and fans behind him.
They don't have a need for an older QB that doesn't have any NFL playing experience to try to build up
He was good here at UT but I've watched his pre season play and he looked lost out there,
Once the brought Teddy in last year I pretty much figured he was done

This is the reality. Sucks. At least he made some good money. I hope he finds a spot somewhere.

Chances are earned my man. He wasn’t impressing in practice so they got Teddy B right before playoffs for insurance. When he had preseason opportunities, he didn’t make the most of them. Detroit wanted him to earn it and he didn’t . We can love him and be honest about what it is.

That was never true. They had terrible backup play for 2 years behind Goff, including 2021 when he missed time, and they wanted a mobile QB as a backup on a cheap contract. Goff was always the starter and their plan was Goff after 2022.

sad to see this. He had a tough start with the injury and it never seemed like he got many opportunities. Idk if he was a good fit with their scheme.
If we ever get proof of the South Carolina sign stealing; I am going to be furious over this. The only reason Hendon got injured was that he was as taking risk after risk to try and salvage that game. He shouldn’t have been there that late battling a defense that probably had every play call of ours on their one time wristbands

Even more reason beat them like the booger picking, red headed step children they are..

As if we needed more reason.....

Hate to see HH get cut, but at the end of the day, it's business.
I do think he gets picked up by someone if for nothing else a practice squad slot.
That could turn into a QB2 spot, who knows.

He has that same potential as others mentioned here already to be a long term backup and make some good money.
Also, he's one of those guys that I could see making a good career in coaching too.

Was just reading about this. Article said if he passes waivers without getting picked up by another team Detroit can add him to their practice squad. He probably would prefer to get picked up by another team.
