Hooker Tells It Like It Is

Peterson has expressed frustration with Pac12 tv contract. I'd see exactly how frustrated he is even if he turns me down. $8 mil would be my starting point. I'd rather be declined by a proven winner like him than some guy who's never coached a Big6 NY day bowl (Mullen).

The Orange Bowl IS a Big 6 NY Day Bowl. But don't let pesky little things like facts get in the way. 🙄

If you take Dak away from Mullen’s what do you have ? If you take Dobs away from butch what do you have ? If you take “ insert name “ away from Saban what body of work is left ? See the difference ? Two of these things aren’t like the other . Two of these things are just the same . We are tired of just game managers hoping and praying we can over come a 21 pt spread at half time to win by 3 or be happy at least we kept it close
So, if I take Mullens 3* QB away from him what does he have? He has Alex Smith and Tim Tebow left on his resume. Not too bad IMO. You are trying to compare a coach that recruits 5* athletes in his sleep to a coach that never even sees one on his roster.
Not saying Mullen is as good as Saban but at least be fair about it.

The track record of this administration is that we go cheap and hire another "up and comer". Let's face it. Hate to be pessimistic, but this is the gang that hired Hamilton, Cheek, Dooley and Kiffin. They left Pearl twisting in the wind and hired Donnie. I hope Currie and his bosses will do us right, but count me as doubtful.

alex smith and tebow came to play for Urban Meyer not dan Mullen.
And as another poster has pointed out with Tebow... Mullen looked at his throwing motion and lack of qb skills and said "looks good to me"

How does Hooker know anything if no info is coming out from the AD?

No different than any other media talking head stating their opinion w/ no facts to support and everyone takes it and runs with it

Not saying Gruden is going to happen although there are still rumors from what seem to be reputable posters who say it is.
But Hooker doesn't know either

I like Dave Hooker. He tells it straight.

Jon Gruden to UT? Not happening, but Vols fans shouldn't fret

If I had my list of guys I THINK ARE REALISTIC. I know Kelly, Peterson, Franklin and some others would be wonderful---but not happening, so...

Mullen, Frost, Schiano, KIFFIN, Patterson, Cutcliffe...any one would probably be successful.

Mullin should be the target, I think.

Top five for you, and no Gruden--only viable ones??

Dave Hooker is FOS. That is all.

A media person says no way in Hell Gruden comes to UT and they are full of it, don’t know any more than the rest of us, obviously a mouth piece for somebody that doesn’t know anything, etc...

Somebody hears from their brother’s roommate’s ex’s ( there is literally a roommates ex referenced in regards to property in the Gruden thread) dad’s golf partner’s lawn person who works for somebody who knows an insider that Gruden flew over Knoxville on his way to his next MNF gig and they are an Old Testament prophet.

People are gonna believe what they want to believe.

"Gruden seemingly has gone out of his way to keep UT in the picture, which is quite self-centered and even maniacal if he truly loves the Vols as he says."

This is what I don't get. If he's not coming, he should have just said, "thanks, but no thanks." How hard could it be?

None of it makes any sense.

Because the man loves the attention. He doesn't care how he gets it, he just wants it.

Larry Fedora - He's done a fair amount without much talent in a tough conference and UT could get him cheap.

I thought he was offered the job when Butch was hired and was scared to accept. Either way though no thanks. We don’t need to go cheap or we’ll be in the same boat again in 3 to 4 years.

Currie, essentially, told everyone to not believe Gruden's not coming, even if Gruden himself says it.

This is Currie's role. Currie has not said it.

Grude is loving all the attention he's getting. He's kinda like the flirtatious hot chick you know you won't get pass second base with. :run:

If Peyton Manning and Phil Fulmer are involved in the decision, I would think David Cutclife would be in the mix. Peyton gave him credit for the impact he had on his success.
