You are forgetting one VERY important point regarding Bennett, he plays on a team in which he is surrounded by 5 star playmakers at every position, and in most cases, even the back-ups. The Heisman goes to the best player (essentially an MVP award), not the most successful player on the best team. The justification of Bennett for Heisman is the same argument suggesting Brady is better than Peyton because he has more Super Bowls. I think we all saw who was more important to their team when Peyton was out for a whole season and the Colts failed to put a single win on the board. I’m not saying that HH is the clear best player in CFB this year, but if you take SB and put him on USCjr’s roster, they don’t even make a bowl game. 3 of the 4 players that are Heisman “finalists” didn’t win their most recent game, so that argument is moot.
Additionally, the Heisman Trust has proven themselves irrelevant and lacking sound judgement and decision making when they decided to strip Reggie Bush of his Heisman for accepting “improper benefits.” If that’s the standard, they would have far fewer trophies on display. However, one they continue to display is OJ Simpson’s. The Heisman Trust is now irrelevant and are disgracing the man whose name on which the award was founded. Shame.

Why should we be surprised by this? There is an obvious bias against UT. Historically speaking, UT's football program is right up there with the likes of OSU, Oklahoma and even Notre Dame. Soooooooo..how many Heismans did the latter three schools receive? They each have 7: you heard me.... SEVEN! How many does UT have? 0, that's right ZERO! Something is rotten in Denmark or maybe I should say New York! Unbelievable!!!

PS.... I hope OSU crushes Bennet! And Go Notre Dame to kick USCJR in the groin!!!

College football has been political for decades.

Doesn’t matter how well a player performs on the football field.

Bennett will forever be forgotten once he’s in the NFL.

That loss and his injury and missing of the Vandy game cost him. Frankly, the SEC OPOY and they send Stetson shows there is no merit to the Heisman award anymore. They don't go off performance. Thank you, BCS, for screwing up yet another award.

The whole thing is kind of laughable because it pretends that all "ranked teams" are somehow equal. Bennett did all of that against ranked teams that averaged about 3.5 losses. Meanwhile, HH is doing that against teams that averaged 2.5 losses. We played 2 top 5 teams. UGA played us and then the next best team was Oregon at #15. This is stats without context.

I am not in the boycott everything crowd, but have not watched Heisman since 1997 and was having a little angst if I would watch this year if Hooker was invited - problem solved !

LOL . . . I'm sure that made those screens, swings and TE drags extremely difficult.

SB is a very good QB, but the whole world knows they'd rather have Hooker or Bryce Young taking snaps for them. Most UGA fans I know feel like their QB is basically a half step slower version of Aaron Murray . . . which obviously is just fine.

Anyone arguing that Bennett deserves to be there over Hooker, Corum, or hell even Bryce Young deserves to be institutionalized.

So sick of UGA fans saying Bennett is a better QB because their team outperformed TN in head to head. That's ridiculous.

UGA D has given Bennett a good chance at the Heisman.

The Heisman has always been a joke, supposed to be the best player in college football but never is. They put too much weight in the teams record instead of the best player. Anyone remember the QB for Nebraska winning? Look at his stats for the season and where he ranked as a QB in the NCAA that year. Wish Hooker could have been on the list to experience it but after the two losses I didn't see any way possible for him to make it.

Probably not but all I keep reading about here are numbers. If we're gonna be purely stats driven about it the four are Stroud, Hooker, McCall (Coastal), and Centeio (James Madison). No one here is melting down about Duggan being among the finalists but Kurts Rourke (Ohio), Frank Harris (UTSA), and Bo Nix (Oregon) all have better stats.
