Hood Headline

Obviously, what he did (or allowed to happen) is atrocious.

But, the notion that someone doing something like this at 13 cannot EVER rehabilitate seems absurdly rigid and unjustified. He seems to accept responsibility, is not minimizing it, and the victim is trying to forgive him.

I don't think its a question of whether he deserves a second chance so much as it is a situation where he has the potential to use a second chance wisely.
Thank you.

I may have this all wrong, so Hat may correct me. But I thought he was having sexual relations with a 16-18 year old white girl. The parents found out and did not like this situation. Think they were going to or did file rape charges, though it was consensual sex. It has been a long time since I heard discussions on this, excuse me if I end up being completely wrong.
It was actually Joey Kent's girlfriend and, to use an NBA term, let's say she willingly accepted doubleteams.

. . . and now the story comes back to me regarding what Nilo did to overcome this situation.

You might want to define "delinquent" for the bammer!!

Sounds like you're just quoting a prosecuting attorney.

The jury found the defendant guilty of kidnapping and
aggravated rape.

All court records, from his appeal. I have respect for the few calling this a bad move and not wanting him on the team or giving him a free ride, but to those that are excusing and trying to explain this away as next to nothing...... just....unfathomable.

Disgusting that Kiffin signed Daniel Hood, and more disturbing that fans are trying to rationalize it. Read the court case:

This kid did everything short of put the plunger in the girl, and may deserve a second chance, but I wouldn't think that would include giving him a full ride to UT. My wife is so disgusted that Kiffin signed Hood that she is not willing to go to anymore games as long as he is coach. Whether that is right or not, I completely understand her reaction.

good, let her stay home and maybe you should stay with her.

I think most people are like me & have a lot of mixed emotions about this!
after reading the comments of hood, it seems
as if he learned from this. I feel sorry for the kid in a way. The incident was bad anyway you look at it, but it would be way worse for hood if he wasn't 13.
Hopefully he has really learned! He's going to have high expectations from a fan stand point. He will be on a short leash, & hopefully he learns even more from the positive players on team, & proves his self on & off the field.
With all this mostly negative press, surely he will try to prove himself & give 100%. Fair or not, he's got to know, he will not be allowed much room for error. That's really what it is! Its going to be a tough road ahead, but maybe he can prove himself & represent the university well.
If we get to a BCS championship game in a few years, I could see one of those feel good stories on this. How he learned & changed his life around, & now a defensive stand out & NFL prospect, over coming all odds & helping lead UT to a NC.

Enjoy it while you can. I'd say I'm looking at a long suspension from VN in the very near future.

Great... I can honestly say there has been an influx of morons to the board over past few months, and losing one of the few key contributors would really hurt VN.

If I felt like you could read AND simultaneously comprehend, I'd bother.

I think we're losing more than one.

who is saying that?

A couple replying to me are trying to split hairs and say he was not convicted, and a few others were saying it was not rape. When clearly, that is exactly what a jury found him guilty of. He committed a reprehensible, violent act and should not be on a paid scholarship to ANY school in any division as a convicted felon, regardless of age.

What's with the cryptic message? Self imposed or new wife?

Neither. I unloaded the full arsenal on a couple of the more mentally challenged among us earlier. Doubt the boss is going to be very happy. However, if this becomes a place where clueless imbeciles can call a kid a sadist for something they did when they were 13 and not get called on it, I'll gladly leave and not look back.

Go give an Alabama player a hundred dollar handshake. Nobody here gives the first remote damn what you think.

Can you heap your morals on us and tell he what he SHOULD be allowed to do? Clearly he should pay forrver and suffer endlessly for a vile act at 13, but I want your list.
