All these folks up in here b****ing about barely beating an 11 win team. Would you have rather we lost? Yeah it was ugly, but any team can struggle on any given night. Ill take this ugly win any day and twice on Sunday's.

App State is a damn good football team. It wasn't going to be a cupcake and no one should have thought otherwise. It was a trap game and we are lucky to win and get the wake up. How many times last year did we not finish? Tonight we finished. We kept looking last year for the game that taught us to win. This may be the one we needed. Don't give me the Second year FBS crap. That's an 11 win team last year that lost very few players. Yes, we were supposed to win but it was laughable to think we were going to smoke them. We took every shot they had, we got through every worst case scenario you could think of and we won. Pretty? No. The warm up we drew up before the marquee matchup? No. Worthy of a #9 rank? We shall see. The sky is not falling. The sun will rise in the morning and we will wake up to see another day.

Not sure I would call that finishing. It was more stepping out of the way and letting the other team choke.

Ap St. got all the breaks early on; which made the perfect storm. If Cam calls a fair catch, and Preston's TD is ruled a TD like it should have; it's a different game. Luckily we got the breaks late.

Great defenses have a bend, don't break mentality. Florida defense was no different in seasons past. Sure the offense needs some work, but a win is a win, and App State is no slouch.

Not going to debate this further. And I really, believe or not, am not trying to pile on.

Michigan had a pretty good year after losing to Appy in 2007, including beating Florida in the Citrus Bowl.

So, I know the result is not the end of the world. It's a win. It's in the can. Etc.

I just expected Tennessee to respond at some point in a manner that they didn't and it was disappointing and I believe it gives reason to be concerned.

And for a team that has championship dreams to be celebrating on the field like they just beat Bama, I wouldn't be happy about either.

I think they got in the red zone once all game before overtime. That's just inconceivable

Appy State isn't a GREAT team. A very well disciplined, well coached team but not great. With a 13-3 lead, they had less than 150 total yards. Scoring drives that came from a muffed punt and a 33 yard punch in due to defender leaving his feet and not playing the ball. A very good team, but not a great team.

No but we're not going to start making ridiculous claims like we needed to almost lose, or that barely winning in OT is better than winning by 30 in regulation.

We played like crap. We laid an egg. We got the win. That's all that matters. Win and move on.

Who is their #51? In the 4th quarter when he blew by Coleman Thomas for the billionth time he also went right by Jalen Hurd on what was supposed to be a double team. Not only that but he chased and brought down Dobbs. He looked like an NFL player. Also I thought Hurd didn't have a good game, not all his fault though. Some was due to play calling. But it seemed like he couldn't break tackles and struggled to get yards after contact. I want the Hurd from the Northwestern game

When I wasn't thinking about throwing the remote through the tv. I was telling my wife the same thing.

One of two things happened tonight...

Either we were exposed and this team is extremely overrated (2005 comes to mind), in which case this win is crucial for bowl eligibility (Jesus... That's a scary thought).

Or we are the great team we all hope we are and just simply crapped our pants. In which case, this was absolutely a positive, humbling experience.

Either way I agree with the OP. We needed this.

I think next week will answer those questions.

Or it exposes ( even though it's a mirror to the last 3year) what an incompetent coach we have!!!

Butch can use the tape this week to show all the mistakes and motivate the players to play harder against Va Tech.

Fulmer won some big games that way, snap ball with one second on Play clock, and run it down there throats.
