Honestly we need to make a great hire for AD

At the AD position before we do anything else. We’ve had coaching boards, post after post discussing coaches but hardly any discussing who to replace Fulmer with. I know several want someone with knowledge of the UT system and donors BUT honestly we need to probably hire someone outside of the influence of our broken system and inept, meddlesome boosters.
I’m available for the job. Where can I apply at? I’m sure I can do just as good as job as what’s currently in place that’s for sure.

We are incapable of making a decent hire whether it be at AD or otherwise. Rick Barnes was dumb luck.
We was lucky for sure on Branes. Texas decided to let him for an up and comer and as you have seen that was a mistake on there part. Texas basketball hasn’t been the same since Barnes left and Tennessee got better.

The contract Fulmer gave Kelly Harper is absurd. He nearly tripled her previous salary and gave her 10% more than Warlick who was a much more accomplished coach. Who was UT bidding against for Harper that justified almost a 3 times increase in pay?
If Warlick is "a much more accomplished coach" why isn't she still here?

Is David Blackburn still at MTSU? I know he went there as Sr Assoc Athletic Director after leaving UTC.

So her compensation should be based on what other coaches earn not what she is worth or based on her past accomplishments/record? If $750k a year is the average salary for for SEC/ top 10 coaches, why was Warlick so underpaid?
If you worked at a family owned business as a manager, were successful, over achieving for that business, applied and were hired by a Fortune 500 company in a high level management position would you expect to be paid similar to what you were being paid by the mom and pop shop or on par with the fortune 500s

Outside of the extension to Pruitt that was questionable, what are your issues with the job Phil has done? He’s assured every resource is available for Pruitt and football, retained a basketball coach that had one foot in California, made what looks to be a nice legacy hire in women’s bball, brought in donor money to expunge a huge deficit prior to covid, has supported every sport at UT assuring facilities and resources are in place.... we do realize his responsibility goes beyond football right?
It has to go beyond football considering how he has screwed up the existing situation.

i'm not so sure the AD calls all the shots if you know what I mean so it might not matter

Warlick has better winning percentage by far (.721 vs .584), more NCAA appearances even though she was a head coach less than half the time as Harper (7 appearances vs 5) and reached the Elite 8 three times while Harper made it to the Sweet 16 once and never farther.
That's why I said Warlick was a " much more accomplished coach".

I dont see Harper's record as over achieving especially when she was at NCSU where she was fired after 4 seasons of barely.500 ball.

I bet Belichick is happy he’s not getting paid for what he did in the 90s
Yeah, great analogy if Harper wins 6 championships.

Question is did the Patriots triple his salary from when he was at Cleveland?

But I get it, Harper is a superb coach and Phil was lucky to get her. Yet another great hire by a man known for great hires throughout his career as a head coach.
