And I say this with hopes he can, and I will support the hire until proven otherwise. But objectively speaking, do you look at CJH and think “yeah we will be competing for an SEC-Championship in the next 3-4 years!”

I’m not sure I can say that.

If we were truly serious about competing, regardless of possible NCAA infractions, we would have broken the bank for a big time coach and not let them say no. Jury is out for sure.

Is the point of the game not to try to win titles?

To answer OPs question, no, I don't think he can win titles.
My thoughts exactly. Goal is for SEC championship game first step. Can’t say I have full confidence this is the guy

I mean our athletics department get completely outclassed by Ole Miss at least they did what they had to do when they knew their program needed energy and excitement

This guy would be lucky to ever finish 2nd in the East...more or less a Natty.

Embarrassing thread.

Is the SEC championship game not considered a championship in your opinion? That’s the point of the thread. Can this guy get us there or not?

I’m more along the lines that he’s here to get us through the sanctions and help us get to be competitive again, that’s more worrisome right now than national championships, now if nothing happens, then go for it!

Here’s the way I look at it..we hired Butch and people started saying we’re back, he coach JJ Watt and the SEC better watch out.

We hired Mr. Aight and it was our defense is gonna be loaded and the SEC better watch out..blah blah blah.

None of that came true..not even close. So if the opposite is what will happen, then No he won’t lead us too squat

It's doubtful. Majors/Fulmer combined for 5 SEC titles in a little over 3 decades. The SEC wasn't nearly as competitive then, Majors won one with UF on probation and shared another.

So, if thats what the two best coaches we've had in modern history accomplished then statistics/common sense would tell you it's unlikely that JH wins a championship.
