It's 3 years, so what has he done to get us back??

You're going to look at the roster this year and tell me it isn't better than when he took over?

Look, his record is terrible. You don't have to make ish up to say he's a bad coach. His solid recruiting and relative stability have been good for the program. There's no reason to try and discredit everything he's ever done. It makes you look petty and childish.

Nothing. A few solid recruiting classes, and dropping the amount or arrests is it. Nothing that would do anything to say he has amounted to anything.

Thought of an improvement attributed to Dools--fans and players alike have expanded their vocabulary to include "moral victory" now.

What he has done is NOT solid recruiting. Losing the fashion we have, does not equate to solid recruiting at all. Fielding an 85 guys on scholarship is what most every coach in college football does every year. Solid recruiting means you are improving and winning more, and his recruiting is anything but that.

One thing that has happened but would have happened under any coach. He has got the scholarship players back to where it should be. The attrition from Fulmer and Kiffin was insane.

We need better talent at LB, DB, DE, RB, QB, and better coaching. Once we get that we may win 10 games a year.

Our back seven is awful, we have no pass rusher, we have no quality offensive linemen outside the first five players, no slot receivers worth anything, and only two SEC backs that should see any playing time.

He's not done a good job recruiting.

The guy can't coach. Can't win. And frankly his recruiting has been average when compared to the SEC big boys.

I may be delusional, but I believe Tennessee belongs among the elite and we will never get there with a below average coach.

Our back 7 is aweful, but our best safety is hurt and we have been recruiting to address this need. We easily have 7 quality ofensive linemen. I can't really argue that our team doesn't still have deficiencies. We're Obviously not Alabama at this point, but if you look at the underclassmen, we've been bringing in bodies to fill exactly the needs you're complaining about.

To look at the roster today, and look at the roster after Kiffen left, it's night and day. If you can't see the difference, you're blind.

What's different?? Same results, different players. The players in 2010 played MUCH harder than the current squad does.

Dooley has helped get the NCAA off our back. I'm still in Dooley's corner but I'm not saying he's a great coach. Hunter and Patterson are Dooley recruits-that's certainly helped us at least stay relevant in some area.
You can't look at all the changes and negative things that have plagued our program for the last few years and then point the finger at one guy.
Now that I've defended Dooley I feel like I have to defend myself so I'll agree that if we had an elite coach that wanted the job tomorrow I'd say pull the plug.

Obviously he has improved the roster with three top 20 recruiting classes. But let's be honest, a lot of coaches could do that at UT with the tradition & facilities we have to offer.

With everything we have to sell a good coach would be bringing in classes that are on par with uf, bama, & uga despite not having as much instate talent. Fulmer & even Kiffin proved it can be done. He's not recruiting at a level to put us back at the top of the league consistently.

He doesnt have all his own recruits at UT yet and it takes more than three years to bring back a program from where Lame left it. Especially with the expectations of some UT fans.

You're exactly right, zjc. Everything is in place to get elite level recruiting classes at UT. I guarantee some will defend him by saying but look at the guys we're in on this year & he deserves a chance to finish this recruiting cycle.

The program has stunk per UT standards for 5 years in a row. If recruiting began improving with Kiffin's class through now with Dools per the recruiting rankings, then we would have seen it reflected in the W/L column. Not happened.

Good bye, Dools and staff.
