From the grid iron to the big screen, Phillip Fulmer has made a name for himself wearing orange. But the Tennessee boy grew up less than an hour from the Alabama state line.

"Coach Bryant was the guy."

Since the time he could walk, Fulmer played sports. Baseball was his first love, but football was the ticket to his future.
Bear Bryant and the Crimson Tide came calling.

"I actually committed to him. I don't know if a lot of people know that. I guess I'm telling a whole lot of people right now."

I'm happy with our current head coach at the helms, but man every time I see him do his exit interview it tears me up..

There defintely were some good and exciting years of football during his tenure. I still think he replaces Hamilton one day.

While I do agree that it was time for Phil to go, I DO NOT agre with the way it was handled (poor taste on Hammys side).

Any man that has given as much to one institution as Phillip Fulmer has given to the University of Tennessee should always be treated with the UTMOST in dignity, respect, and fairness.

A lot of people comment on here how Dooley is a class act, and he is, but Phil was class before that...yeah his players weren't always the best behaved, etc...but Phil always brought class in winning and losing...never disgracing and always representing well that which is the University of Tennessee...and for that he will always be called in my eyes..COACH.

He is still here! His ego and lack of a job offer won't let him leave. If he loved UT like he says he does, he would step aside and let CDD have his day. What good did it do to say UT would have been in the SEC Championship game last year if he was still there? Good luck Phil. I really hope you get that "special situation". Don't count on it though. And yes, I do appreciate what he did for UT, but let's not confuse being bitter with being classy.

Coach Fulmer was the greatest! He made my childhood dream come true! I think coach Dooley will do a good job and represent us with class!

The title for this thread is misleading, I thought Fulmer moved to Humboldt County and was growing his own strain of the sticky-icky"homegrown." Shucks.

Fulmer was a top athlete in the state as a high school kid, as he was in college. Unlike your boy Kiffin, who was a failure as a QB and had to become an intern and then live off Daddy's reputation to keep getting jobs. Let me know when your boy Kiffin has a 74% win rate, will ya?
