Mason, maybe you know this. What formula do they use to determine what games they will release demos for? I mean REAL demos, not the ones you get. Im just curious, if they have a gut feeling the game is going to disappoint and fail under the burden of the hype, do they nix any ideas to release it as a demo?

Seems like this big miss sets up THQ for a buyout, as much time and $$ as they invested in long term hype building.

From the sounds of things, the most valuable asset of the company is the IDEA of this game. The game itself sucks. Someone else should acquire the IP for this game and actually do this game justice.

Yeah Mullet u will mostly see demos from ever green games like Ea titles. Cod has dome it before but the last time they did it was world at war. I have heard that demos killed a few game releases so companies now if the demo is a turd usually u don't see them. Most games that don't use high marketing scheme will use the demo for word of mouth advertising. If homefront has a demo they wouldn't have sold 100k first day.

such a shame that so many people are saying that this game is a waste, though..... especially since the story for it sounded pretty amazing IMO. i just wish that companies that put out some of these FPS's would stop trying to copycat CoD so much on their core gameplay. it seems like almost every military-esque shooter you pick up from the last few years has been trying to follow directly behind Infinity Ward's and Treyarch's footsteps. there needs to be some originality in this genre again.

With this they tried a mixture of cod and bf and failed on both ends.

John Milius wrote the game for God's sake. Give him the reigns on A COD sized game and it would be solid gold.

It probably isn't, if you think homefront=bf. Realize dice isn't going to turn their game into COD.

maybe they should. to me, i'd play it if the gameplay was like COD. you just have to listen to what needs to be improved from the players who play COD, incorporate it in BF, and you beat COD.

If you make an arcade shooter than it isn't a battlefield game.

Basically, neither Battlefield or COD are flawed. People who enjoy running and gunning, or camping out, like COD. People who enjoy fire and movement, team crosstalk, laying down suppressive fire, and working as an infantry section to take objectives, in a slower paced but just as hot fire game, prefer Battlefield.

Totally different games, and gameplay. Battlefield is great because the Bammer moron Bearcat can post on a distant ridgeline with his M700, give enemy positions to the assault team as we move into the area of the objective, and then call in FA support to help us secure it.

It's a polar opposite of COD where jumping off of buildings and .45 ACP rounds killing people >300 meters is typical.
