Home Brewers

Any additional drying or just e fan?

I think we will rig up a pole that we can unhook and bring down to harvest.

I ordered mine yesterday so I've got some time to think on it. How are you going to do it?

Im pretty sure they just use the fan.

Ive got a privacy fence around my back yard so I am going to string some twine on hooks between the posts like this picture. The pole idea is good too. Its best to be able to lay them out on the ground to harvest.

Any home brewer in the mid state area that hasn't already needs to check out the mid state brew crew. Got to sample nearly 40 different home brews yesterday at my first meeting. Had an awesome time, good group of guys.

I've been thinking about looking into the Barley Mob Brewers of Chattanooga. I met someone recently who is a member, but my biggest hangup is time, and I'm not sure I could commit to it. Groups like these can give you so many ideas and advice, and they're usually a good group of guys, too.

Well austin homebrew sent me hop pellets instead of rhizomes. So I called and they are fixing it. So now I have 3 ozs of free whillamete (sp) hops.

What should I brew? Give me some ideas. Go!

Oh. Try and keep it an extract only. No grains. I've got two to brew and limited carboys. I need to just get some ferment buckets and deal with it.

Willamette is good for just about any American Pale Ale. They pair well with cascades. I would get a kit like this one and add your willamette to it. This kit has 3 ozs of cascades so when it calls for 2 oz cascade for 60 min add 2 oz of your willamette too, then add the remaining oz of each at one minute.

If you want to stay exactly to a recipe you could buy the ingredients of this Irish Red but it only calls for 1 oz of willamette.

If it were me I would do the first. That EPA is one of my all time favorite extract kits and it would be interesting to see how it turns out by adding willamette.

Happy brewing!

Tried my Maibock for the first time yesterday evening. Its been cold lagering for three months, kegged last weekend. It is awesome!

I completed the kegs for my all grain set up. Turned out pretty good. The only thing I have left is to insulate the hot liquor tank and build the stand they will sit on.

Wow, what a setup! Great job. Is the manifold looking thing in the last picture for sparging?

Got my brew stand built yesterday. Making yeast starters now. Plan to do my first 10 gallon all grain batch with this rig on Monday.

I do have a few more things to do to it but its done enough to use. I am going to paint it and add plumbing and a water filtration system.

The brew went pretty good yesterday. No major problems. Got 10 gallons of Cream Ale in the fermenters!

Looks awesome dude. Did you happen to make a wert chiller? I've seen a lot of cool YouTube videos where people make their own chiller, and it speeds up the cooling process by an hour or so.

Thanks. I bought a wort chiller. I checked the price for the copper tubing and it wasn't much cheaper than buying one. It cooled 10 gallons to 78 in about 30 minutes yesterday. It works even faster if the water is colder but it was pretty warm yesterday. I want to get a pump to recirculate water in a bucket and add ice to keep cooling it so I don't waste so much water.
