Holtz Doubles Down On Tennessee

On a side note, Holtz's pep talk to Ohio State was great last night. He called USC the University of Spoiled Children and that story about OJ Simpson was classic.

I'm convinced all of the "picks" on ESPN are canned. I think they are told what to say to keep fans interested.

It's all for ratings. That's why a Butt Pirate like Skip Bayless has a job...

I laughed so hard I pulled a muscle during that segment. The shirt they put him in would have almost fit Fulmer, and the hat didn't fit Granny's head too well.

In all honesty Sylvester looked bad last night. Not sure he's very healthy right now...

They are usually split on these picks----have to keep all the fans happy---"May picked ucla, hot dam!"

I am usually inclined to agree with Mark; though not in this one. But he REALLY knows whats coming tomorrow in Neyland. May was a Majors guy at Pitt---makes him OK.

It's surprising to hear May lash out at us like that. I always thought he liked UT.

I believe he picked us as a dark horse to win the 2007 national championship because of our offensive line.

Never thought I would see the day that the Stuttering Wonder Lou Holtz would make someone look foolish.

May always picks against a team whose coach was fired, and he deems it to have been unfair. Case in point-he hasn't picked Notre Dame to win a game since Willingham got fired. It's getting to be a bit absurd, and it's obvious he has an agenda with this kind of crap. I'm sure he's annoyed with how Phil was let go, and doesn't believe that Kiffin deserves the job (like that's for him to decide) and is now picking against TN. Just the same way he picked Nevada to beat ND last week, Michigan to beat them this week, and freaking Hawaii to beat them in the bowl game last year. This is one guy that people can talk about hating their school and there is actual truth to it.

So Mark, you have a redshirt freshman QB going across the country to play in front of over 100,000 maniacal SEC fans, a team with the best defensive player in the nation, and against a defense led by arguably one of the greatest defensive game-planers of the last 20 years ripe with talent? Of course you should pick UCLA-makes perfect sense.....idiot.

Throwing logic in there will just confuse him.

I'm actually shocked that Holtz was so pro Tennessee in that segment. Makes me think he never had a problem with Tennessee as much as he did the coaches. Then again, who really cares what Lou Holtz thinks?
I was thinking the same thing,Lou wouldn't have made a comment like that if Phil was still around.

Neither would I! I liked Phil, but I would NEVER double down when he was coach... seems like every game we played was close.

Mark May also said that Nevada was going to whoop up on Notre Dame last week and he meant it.

I do not think UCLA can come in here, with their team [although the coaching staff did make a difference last year], and win against this coaching staff, and this team. To hell with what eSPN says in general, as long as they keep writing checks to the SEC, I will watch.

I still think I'd take listening to Mark May all day long over having to listen to another sloppy second of Dr. Lou's nonsense. Even in picking the Vols, he still made himself sound like an idiot. He said there is NO WAY that UCLA can win this game. Really Dr. Lou? I wouldn't go that far, but still, the Vols win.
The reason this still bugs me is that Lou didn't pick Tennessee because he thinks the team is good, he did it because he knows and likes Monte Kiffin. If you know him or if he has any sort of a history with a team, then he's going to say they are the next best thing to Notre Dame. His picks remind me of Balky Bartakamous (sp?) on Perfect Strangers, when he picked football upsets based on the mascots.

"The reason UCLA won that game last year was because of poor play calling in the 2nd half"....that is 10000000% true.

And the fumble costing us a certain TD or FG minimum and the blocked punt they returned for TD. Oh that staff and that team screwed the pooch every way possible.

I just don't see those bonehead plays happening on this team with this staff so I feel extremely confident that we'll win handily. They'll look good enough to give the win the credibility that WKU could not.
