Not sure on Holman, but I think Burns leaving was best for both parties

I'm not sure the team chemistry would have been the same had Burns stayed. There was def some locker room issues and drama. Not 100% sure if it was him or someone else, but CTV alluded to it a couple weeks ago in an interview.

Burns has already started thinking about the millions he’s getting ready to have. Almost guaranteed he is not heartbroken and maybe even happy for a few of his former teammates. As stated above, best for both parties

Maybe both chose well and, despite their team's accomplishments, each got whatever he needed to develop and maximize his chances at the next level.

They're also young, and maybe they will learn something important from a distance that they couldn't learn earlier or up close.

I think each of us can look in the mirror and relate to how much maturing any 20-something still has ahead of him.

Well its clear the SEC was vastly superior to the ACC this season, so Burns was able to improve his stats and boost his draft stock by going to the weaker conference. He made a business decision that will net him more money. It may be bittersweet to watch his former teammates win a natty without him, but he will be fine in the longrun.

Thank you to Burns for leaving us for Wake Forest and thank you to Holman for choosing LSU. Both of you lost the last game of your career and your team didn’t even make it out of regionals. Meanwhile you got to see what it means to be a real team with a real coach on national television and become one of, if not, the greatest teams of all-time. Hope you enjoyed your season and hope your decisions last with you the rest of your life because you skipped out on something really special. We want kids that actually want to play for Tennessee, not kids only in it for fame and fortune. Winning will always trump anything individually in a team sport. As Tony said: “If you are looking for a paycheck, don’t come to Tennessee.”

Not on purpose but do you think TV made a little dig at Burns during the interview when he said to all you kids out there just be a good team mate. The thought just crossed my mind when i was reading all the comments.

Luke Holman didn’t zackly “leave us”. Simply chose the defending champs who had showcased Stud Skenes over us. Burns calculated that Wake Forest would develop him better for the next level. No hate.

I don’t think it was a personal shot at all. It was just wise words from the best coach in the country to keep these kids heads on straight. Being a great teammate is the most important thing you can do.

Wes Rucker talked about it on GoVols 247 podcast that he felt like Tony looked the most tense last year than ever before. There were definitely some internal things he didn’t like.

Rucker said on the 247 podcast this morning that Zander contemplated transferring, but when Burns entered the portal, he decided to stay. He figured he could have a real shot at the Sunday job then.

Burns will be a top 5 pick. Zander delivered the most clutch pitching in UT history. I'll take that trade.

It ended up working best for both Tennessee and Burns. He went to Wake and had an excellent year. Him leaving is pretty much what allowed Zander to become the Sunday starter and it was awesome to see him thrive in that role. We don’t win a natty without him.

Selfish agree. Caring will be in the back of his mind for a while. Always "what if" and not making it out of the regionals was an exclamation point.
