College Football Power Ratings - College FB Strength of Schedule Power Rating on TeamRankings.com

Well derr, this website quantifies it in a different way, and they have three times the football knowledge as yourself. It says you have the 32nd toughest strength of schedule, and Tennessee has the 10th toughest. This sounds more accurate. I've not looked at Sagarin's formula, but I assume he does it based on opponents wins. So in that case, your win over East Carolina counts more than our wins over teams like Georgia and South Carolina, though most rational people would say that Georgia and South Carolina are better teams than East Carolina.

I know this is a UT board, but this takes the cake for homerism. 11 of the top 12 teams on that list are SEC. Way to find a site that is clearly SEC biased.

No, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, and Miami are better than you. I'm not saying you're terrible, but those four are very good teams. We had a solid schedule this year, and almost anywhere you go will agree.

Nebraska is an excellent defense, with an awful offense. The difference in their defense and ours is nowhere near the difference in their offense and ours. I'd say Tennessee is the better team, but it is close, and certainly rational people could disagree on which is the better of the two.

I cannot speak with any authority on Miami. Haven't watched a single game of theirs all year, so I am not going to make any statement about them.

Tennessee is certainly a more talented team than Georgia Tech, but I am not going to pretend to know who would win a match up between Tennessee and Georgia Tech. Strong arguments for either.

Who have you beaten that would suggest you're better than Georgia Tech and Nebraska?

...in case you were not aware, we beat Georgia by 26 points. Their offense never got past our 35 yard line. Georgia Tech lost at home to that same Georgia team. We're a lot better than Georgia on both sides of the ball.

I also think we might be better than Iowa State... who beat Nebraska in Lincoln this year. Have you not seen Nebraska play this year? Their offense is terrible. We're a much more balanced team.

Oh lord, moron alert.

Definitive Tech fan: doesn't watch college football, is only casual in caring about it because the program has only existed for 10-12 years.

Oh the transivitive property in football. You beat the same Georgia team who beat Georgia Tech who lost to Miami who lost to VT. So we win the game then. Awesome.

Dude, that is exactly what you asked for...

Your question, as you worded it.

"Who have you beaten that would suggest you're better than Georgia Tech and Nebraska?"

How else does one answer that question than by naming a team that is better than Georgia Tech that we beat? So basically, you were going to come back with that excuse no matter what I said.

If you'd like I could also go into recruiting rankings, but you did not ask for that, you asked for a team that we beat that is better than Georgia Tech, and I gave you one. I could also go in to the fact that Georgia Tech has not beat anyone that says they could beat us.

Come on guys, different staff getting a definitely more motivated than in years past Volunteer team for this post-season game. I think the staff and players are of the same mindset that has pulled us through these last games in November and put us in the win column that probably wouldn't have happened under the old "regime". So let's pull together and support our VOLS realizing that it will be a tough game but definitely one that we can win and will propel us into next year expecting many more to come. GO VOLS.....

Georgia Tech would wallop Tennessee by 30... If I've learned anything in the last 3 days reading this forum, the main concern for Tennessee is their rush defense.. That might be a problem when you play GT... slight problem...

that is completely ridiculous. do you realize just how bad uga's defense was this year? gt has gimick offense that will and is being figured out. we are merely concerned for the state of our defense as is was going into ole miss game through to the kentucky game. we had several key injuries and were forced to play 2nd and 3rd stingers, many of whom were freshman and had little to no college playing experience. the defense that played against bama and ugs would beat gt tech and we wouldnt have any concern for this overrated vt team in the chick fil a bowl. thankfully we have a full month to heal and scheme to stop vt's running back who i would say it a legit threat. im pretty sure we held mark ingram to under 100 yards rushing when our defense was a its peak. sure it isnt were it once was, but like i said earlier we have a full month to heal.

No kidding.

When comparing the two programs historically, Tennessee is football royalty living in a mansion on a hill while VT is so nouveau riche. Building a Mcmansion after winning the lottery because they played every day at the 7-11 that they walked to from the run down trailer park that has been Virginia Tech football pre-1995. As a result they are constantly trying to prove that they are good enough.

It is also a main concern for Georgia. Somehow Georgia not only stayed within 30, they beat Ga Tech.

Even Virginia Tech managed to play Ga Tech pretty close.

Honestly, we're overmatched. They're gonna run all over us with our 2 3rd string LBs starting. We can only pray Monte Kiffin has something planned.

Just like Ingram. Oh, wait.

3 days of reading and your prognosticating a hypothetical "walloping". Nice.
