Hokies aren't that good.

No Tennessee needs to FULLY show up, yes I think we should win but no we don't need to HALF anything any longer. it's high time to play like we are a SEC contender starting tomorrow night. GBO!!!!!

I know. I really just wanted to ruffle the feathers of all these hokies that have decided to come crawling outta the woodwork.

VT is garbage. If Tennessee doesn't crush them, they should be disappointed.

If Tennessee even halfway shows up, VT gets hammered.

Garbage is your opinion....but There will be no crushing of any team tomorrow night. The Vol's are coming off a piss poor performance against App State. They come into this game with a chip on their shoulder. They play more physical, and better, IF the O Line plays better...Period. It all starts upfront..if Dobbs has time to read the defense, and make good decisions with the ball, the Vol's move the ball and score some points.

VT comes into the game with a pitiful, 4 turnover performance against an FCS, Liberty team. The offense is new, but Explosive if players execute. IF they manage to not turn the ball over, they too will move the ball and score points.

I don't care how many 5 star players the Vol's have on offense, this game's outcome hinges on the execution and adjustments of the Shoop and Foster Defenses. They are both loaded with talent and fast as lightning. This will not be a shootout...both defenses are just to good.

This game will be won or lost with Coaching and adjustments..and will be low scoring.

Win or lose, I will always be a Hokie fan...but that doesn't mean I have to be a Vol hater...as I plan to continue visiting this great Vol site. The smack talking you guys do with each other is great entertainment and a lot of you all appear to understand the X's and O's of football, which is what I like to discuss.

Hoping for a great game against 2 good teams with no injuries!

Thats awesome that you are so proud of your team.

I can't wait to see Ford ,Hodges, and Phillips go against our secondary.

I hope we show up pissed off, with a normal great Butch Jones game plan (our game plans are good it's our half time adjustments that suck), except when we are up by 28 at the half our defense doesn't give way in the 4th quarter and we cruise to a 48-17 win

Good to have you and hope you stick around. I hope you have a terrible night tomorrow night, though.

I haven't got to watch any of VT yet, so my question for you is how often did VT have 4-5 wideouts on the field? Does the offense use a fullback/H back at all or is it usually one back and four wide? Any empty formations? Two backs at all?

To me it comes down to coaching. Remember, the only decent victory of Dooley's career was against Jones' Bearcats. Can Jones finally shake off the monkey on his back and prove he belongs as a coach in one of college football's elite conferences? Or will he gameplan poorly, again, and allow an inferior team to beat us?

VaTech may or may not be good at the end of the year, who knows. Here is what we do know. There coach is a hot up and comer, their D Coord is one of the best in the business. On top of that, they have Power 5 players on that team, better athletes than App St for sure, at every position, and depth.

I think both teams (UT and VaTech) started poorly and both will playing with a chip on their shoulder wanting to prove that game one was an anomaly and they are better than that. Should set the stage for a big time night of prime time football on the biggest stage at a neutral site!! Hope they come out ballin'.

Not sure that coaching was the reason for why we won that game. I, honestly, think it was based on raw talent and the team was actually a 'team' at that point, they hadn't caught the Sal virus at that point.

Man, took balls to post that in here. However, I have to respectfully disagree. At the end of the day coaching is very important; however, you can't discard the fact that talent is the highest contributing factor in winning games.

Old saying: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

Therefore, after APP State, you better believe that UT is coming for blood, sir. If you would have played us the first game of the season, I may be eating crow. But for now, you are going to see what 5-star players are all the rave for in recruiting when they run over, around, under, and beside Fosters defense. This isn't the old beamer teams, you fellas are rebuilding. If you disagree with that, not sure I know what to tell ya.

Just my 2 cents man, glad you're on here giving your opinion. Furthermore, looking forward to a good game. :hi:

All of the above is what they will do! The offense tries to find and exploit a mismatch to gain advantage. Lots of misdirection, and quick throws to players in space.

Yea...I see your point, but I also believe that there is not a lot of difference talent wise between a 4 star vs. 5 star...those stars start to make a difference when it's 5 stars going up against 2 stars.

Every 5 star that Tennessee plays will be matched up with a high 3 or 4 star player. Just my opinion!

Yall have had great recruiting classes, but don't get hung up star ratings...as I have seen 2 star players, play lights out and 4 stars look like duds.

Our D will have to play sound football and we will need to get pressure just with our front 4 to cover the misdirection, talented WR's and qb scrambles for sure.

The big story to me is how our Oline plays. (duh rite) But if they come out fired up to show last week was a fluke and play like they did last season or better then I like our chances. Let Dobbs be Dobbs and play to his strengths. Fix broken plays with his legs and use Kamara in space.

IMO last week really wasn't enough to know what either team is capable of but it should be a good lower scoring game.

No doubt UT has more tradition and history and the SEC schedule skews things, but the dominance you seem to assume isn't as glaring if you take off the Big Orange glasses.

Since 2000:
UT Record 120-82 won .59% of games
VT Record 150-61 won .71% of games

UT Avg rank - 25 (ranked 5 times at end of season)
VT Avg rank - 19 (ranked 11 times at end of season)

UT top 10 finishes - 1 ('01)
VT top 10 finishes - 4 ('00, '04, '05, "07, '09)

UT Conference Championships - 0
VT Conference Championships - 4 ('04, '07, '08, '10)

UT Current Bowl Streak - 2 games
VT Current Bowl Streak - 23 games

Of course, none of this matters at Bristol as I think UT has too much talent on D to expect a Hokies win. Don't be surprised if Lil ol' VT does makes it interesting though!
Good Luck!

You won the first quarter. Congrats.

Wow, wonder why most people outside of Ol Rocky Top think UT fans are a bit pretentious? Guess Bud & Fuente will just bring their slow, plodding, weak little 2 stars and see where they stack up against Tennessee's elite. I guess the 2009 VT beatdown wasn't against SEC speed, coaching and talent? Cue up "but, this year is different" in 3, 2, 1...

The 45-24 Beatdown @ Bristol in 3 2 1...
