Hokies aren't that good.

Talked to a guy who is a VT fan the other day. He expected us to win; said Tennessee is the much more talented and athletic team.

Their QB is a juco transfer that nobody is really sold on yet, RBs are pretty good, Ford (WR) is probably their best player on offense and would be in any team's starting lineup, said their MLB (Motuapuaka) was the "worst starting linebacker in college football."

They probably are.

Va Tech is better than App St and it wont be much of an argument. At the end of the season even if Va Tech is 6-6 and App St only loses to UT and Miami, one could still make the argument that they didn't play anybody. How good would Va Tech be in that conference? Unknown.

I'm tired of our fans trying to play up an overmatched App St team as an excuse for the absolutely abyssmal performance that our entire team (coaches especially) put on in week one. It is what it is, we probably should have been beaten but pulled at a W. If we were to win out that near loss wouldn't even matter. IF! If they continue to play like that, however, we will suffer an extremely disappointing season.

There's only 2 questions about this game is the announced attendance # and will it be a packed house.

Was the ticket count sold for the game? I had heard the original 150,000 sold out early and they were making arrangements for an additional 25,000. Any truth to that?

Vols get the win and then we can move on to Florida, after Ohio.

We're not in a position to judge anybody else's football team. Not that good ourselves.

My concern is with Fuente and his coaching style. If this JUCO QB can throw somewhat accurately and has time to do so, his goal of running 80 plus plays is attainable and that will not be positive for the VOLS, especially if we have difficulties forcing them to 3 and outs.

VT shouldn't be taken lightly at all. On paper the talent level may not be the same and it appears they should be outmatched. However, over the years I've witnessed several VOLS football teams that were loaded with talent or at least had more than the opposing team with a first year coach, only to show up and either be out coached or played flat for 4 quarters and lost a game they should not have.

Have you never heard, "It takes one to know one?".

The exception to that is we have a stacked team that went conservative almost to the point of it costing us another game.

This isn't the first time that's happened though under this staff and that is a concern. They should learn from their mistakes.

Mighty Liberty gave them hell for about a quarter.
If we can't to the same for 4 quarters with our offense, then we don't deserve to win.

My concern is not with their offense. Our defense can compete with the best of them. My concern is with OUR offense, and if we improve from last week.

We still have no idea what we have as a team. I did see our defense make half time adjustments which had been missing in the past. Its all guess work until we see a couple of games from this team.

App State has a tough stretch in October where they play Louisiana Lafayette and Georgia Southern two out of three weeks and both of them on the road. They will be a heck of a team if they avoid losing to one of them.

They aren't that bad either. Ford is an elite WR, and Bucky Hodges isn't far behind. I heard Josh Ward on the radio here in VA this morning saying that Sutton wouldn't necessarily be matched up against Ford. That concerns me a little.

Their RBs are good, but not nearly to the level of what other teams on our schedule have. On defense, they have a good, but not great secondary, but their front 7 lacks depth. However, they do have Bud Foster, and I know he'd love to shake the impression people have of him that his defenses can't stop teams with a mobile QB.

We'll see. I'm really nervous about this game, namely because I know so many VT people, and I really don't want to have to endure what I had to endure the last time we played them.

I hear ya....find new friends:)

If games were played on paper then I agree.

We should have beat Appy st by 3 touchdowns, but we didn't.

So, I will watch the game and see hiw it plays out.

I hope your right though.
So why do you think they should've beaten Appy by 3 TD?...because "Vegas" said so??? Please... Appy is a MUCH better team than most Vol fans wanted to believe. (Players included). I never reley on "Vegas" to tell me what my team should or shouldn't win by. That's why we play the games!

We don't either. After Thursday I will no longer overlook an opponent, I hope our players have the same mindset.

Not me. I'm gonna overlook every team "we" play because "we" ain't playing and it doesn't matter what "we" think. However, I sure hope the team and coaches don't overlook anyone.

After our performance from Week 1, we shouldn't be insulting anyone for not being very good. At least they took care of business like expected.

Let's just focus on going into Bristol and playing well, regardless of our opponent.

It's not insulting.

They're just not very good.

Right now we are not either. But we've seen Debord call a good game. We beat UGA and Northwestern with decent coaching.

I'm not worried about this game at all. It will never be close. App State would have put 60 on Liberty.

I think Mizzou or Vandy would beat them too. I watched Mizzou, and they found something at the end of the West Va game. Vandys run game and defense would be enough.

It'll be nice to win in front of all those people.

25- 6 Vols
