Did they at least play the entrance to the Hokies going out on the field? They did for Alabama. Enter Sandman entrance makes up for the hokie pokey imo. Im not a fan of the Hokie Pokey..

I heard that Virginia Tech fans were some of the worst. However, I did not have one negative experience with a Virginia Tech fan.

I would have to completely disagree 100%.

I have been coming to this board for a long time to read about Vol football, but the absolute classlessness of Virginia Tech fans made me finally register to post the stories of how terrible they were.

Being a lifelong Vol fan, and seeing that it was my weekend with my two daughters who are 7 and 10, i thought it would be a good christmas gift to take them to their first bowl game. Our seats were in a fairly neutral section, neither all Vol or hokie fans, but it was mostly virginia tech fans.

On our way into the Georgia dome walking though the parking lot me and my two young daughters had obscenities screamed at them, none of which i am going to repeat, my 7 year old got an orange thrown at her by a VT fan in the parking lot and has left a nice bruise on her thigh. Another younger man called my daughters "Kiffin's little whores" as we walked by their tailgate.

Once we got in to the Ga Dome, before kickoff, we were spit on by a group a VT fans from the first row of the upper level and threw ice from thier cup at us.

During the game the VT fans around us were constantly yelling obscenities at Vol fans we were sitting near, rubbing in bad plays and I was thouroughly embarrassed bringing my daughters there.

After the game, the berrations were even worse walking out. One Vt fan got right up beside my daughter and said "go to h*ll vol fans, you lost" which brought ,y youngest daughter to tears to which another Vt fans told her to "get used to it, UT sucks".

We made it back to the hotel and the next morning left back for AL. On our drive, not 10 min out a car full of tech fans drove by with 4-5 people in it all with their middle fingers up out of the window and one from the back seat moon-ing my children.

I would have posted this as a thread but seeing as i did not have the needed amount of posts to do so, this seemed like the best place.

I have NEVER in my 50+ years seen such a classless bunch as those that call themselves Virginia Tech fans.

I have taken my daughters to games at Florida, Georgia, and Alabama and NEVER have they heard so many obscenities or seen such vulgar behavior. Had i not been there with them i would have wanted to stick a few of them right in the mouth. I cant imagine how low-life a set of individuals can be as to take pleasure out of emotionally and physically berrating a 7 and 10 year old girls at their first bowl game.

In my interactions with Virginia Tech fans from this game, they are the lowest of the low, and i hope the worst on their football program for the rest of the programs history for how classless they acted to my daughters.

I'm sure i can speak for the rest of the hokie nation when i say I am truly sorry for the way you and your family was treated at the game. I have had similarly disrespectful experiences at games before (only one bad experience from a drunk ut fan thursday night). It's even more sickening that those VT fans were so rude and verbally abusive to little girls. I know an apology from a random guy online doesn't make up for the abuse your family took, my condolence is all i can offer. I hope you don't judge the entire fanbase of VT based on this one bad trip. I try to visit opponents message boards before and after our games, and i can honestly say that most fans have good things to say of their experiences with VT fans. Obviously, every fanbase has its idiots (such as the drunk group of ut fans i ran into after the game) but you were unfortunate enough to run into several of our drunk idiots.
Once again, i am truly sorry for you and your family. Good luck to your Vols next season.

You have a lot of class vtdom. Don't feel the need to leave jut because the bowl game is over. We at VN welcome other fanbases as long as they are classy. Hope to see you on here some more.

For those asking why we were booing the VT band at halftime, I was booing, we were just in a booing mood following the end of the half. The Hookie pookie was ridiculous. Sure, they are the hookies, but I guess when you compare the tradition of the Pride of the Southland to the Hookie Pokie, you either laugh or boo.

I wasn't all too depressed leaving the game. Sure, byou hate to lose but let's be honest, all these bowl games other than the BCS title game are really just exhibitions. Let's just have a great year next year.

First...our band was better

Second...VT's team was better

Third...VT fans were ok where we were sitting but we were highly intertained by how much they drank and staggered about and i was in club seating.

Fourth....relax my fellow vols...we are a program rebuilding and VT is stable and well established...congrats to them.

They played it for about 10 seconds and got the VT fans really riled up, but then they turned it off.

Took my wife to the game.... VT fans were nothing but classy (except for the ones pee'ing on the bushes outside the 'Dome....) UT fans outnumbered VT fans 10-1 at least, so where I was sitting a VT fan kept pretty quiet.... Sorry for your experience but the VT fans I ran across were for the most part pretty humble in victory.....

VT was better than us, and they kicked our ass. But I totally agree, the Hokie Pokie at half time reminded me of little league cheerleading routine. I was confused the whole time. It's sad a team that takes the Hokie Pokie seriously kicked our ass. Oh well, I can't wait until next year.

Wow, how classless! Well, I guess they need something to make themselves feel better since their trophy case looks bare compared to ours. : )

I did get to leave early, and I made it home by 2. I was on I575 (just outside Canton) when the new year hit.

Oh,and on the way down, a Goergia State Trooper followed me(I had my flags flying). He thought he would catch me for speeding, so I slowed down to the exact speed limit. I was hoping to run into some UGA fans, but I did not.

Okay, I fought the urge as long as I could. It is late, I am about to go to bed. But before I do, I have to post this old joke based upon a true obituary...

Dateline, Boise Idaho, April 4, 1996

Larry LaPrise, who wrote ''The Hokey Pokey'' for patrons of the Sun Valley ski resort in the late 1940s and saw it become a classic, died today in Boise, Idaho. He was 93. Mr. LaPrise had been ill for an extended period and it was thought that his passing would bring some peace of mind to his surviving family members. However, there was some controversy. It occured when Mr LaPrise's remains were being placed inside the coffin. It seems they put his left foot in, and then the trouble started...

I have to agree, they were pretty classless down there, even though the crowd was 80%+ Vol fans. I've been to a lot of away games, and never had issues with the fans of an opponent like we did in what was essentially a home crowd in Atlanta. I had one Va Tech fan intentionally kick my beer over when he walked by, and I caught another one trying to steal the Tennessee magnets from my car after the game.

I guess Va Tech is one of those programs that hasn't been there before, and doesn't know how to handle a big win. It's a good thing Va Tech doesn't travel well. Could you imagine how bad it would be if it was 1/2, or even 1/3 Va Tech fans?

First rule of bandwagon fans: if your team gets embarrassed, make up crap about your opponent's fans to make you feel better. You were watching your team get beat in every phase of the game. You would have thought Mother Theresa was a b--ch if she was wearing maroon.
Losing gracefully is just as important as winning gracefully, and a lot harder to do. Talking this kind of BS smack is just an embarrassment to the program you claim to support.

You are on a UT board. This is the place to talk smack. Smack was talked before the game, and it's always talked after the game. Just the way it is for some folks. But you shouldn't come in here and read this just to get offended by how some fans react to a loss. If you hadn't noticed, our program has been turned upside down the last couple years. So you'll just have to cut us some slack.

Let me clarify.
Talking smack is fine. It's good. It shows passion for your team.
Talking BS smack - i.e. stuff blown out of proportion (the guy who kicked your beer over was a Hokie fan so it had to be intentional) or completely fabricated ("Kiffin's little whores"? Seriously?) is pointless and juvenile.
