Hopefully this will help Crompton show off for the scouts against the "lunch pail" D

Hmm, I always feel bad for a guy when he can't make a game...unless it's due to academics. His loss is our gain.

Losing him most certainly hurts us but I wouldn't consider it critical. He has been hurt since the Alabama game, missed a few games, and has been playing below 100%. One of our best sure, can his spot be effectively filled, yes. Its already been done a few times this year.

You guys are correct. He is our top CB. He is very good but has already been out this year due to injury so his backups (Hosley and Whitley) have some experience.

Good luck in the game. Go Hokies

yea this def does not help.... although Virgil has not been 100% at all this year. hes basically been splitting time with true Fr. Jayron Hosley (four star/ also our punt returner) and true Soph Eddie Whitely(three star). they both have played pretty well in spot duty this year. when Virgil was out for two games early this season against Nebraska and Marshall Whitely got the start and did ok, but he was moved to back up FS later in the year. this gave Hosley more playing time, where he shined. we may also use r-Soph Chris Hill (four star), if the coaches think experience is more important than talent in this situation. not to mention Virgil just had a minor surgery on his knee so that was not going to help matters with him already not being 100%. will just have to see how this all plays out, wont know until game time who will play and how they'll play. i think a any of our CBs at 100% is better than an unhealthy starter. that is why we are DB U

DB U may be a stretch, but there have been a string of DBs from tech into the NFL.
Billy Hardee
Cory Bird
Brandon Flowers
MEangelo Hall
Pierson Prioleau
Jimmy Williams
Aaron Rouse
Victor "Macho" Harris

Not a bad lineup at all. Virgil out hurts, but not insurmountable.

Sorry, never heard of any of those guys.

With respect, the issue was whether VT was DB U or not. While I will not assert that Tech is DB U, the fact is that there are several recent VT DBs that have been and are in the NFL. Whether all pro or not the guys are pretty good to make the NFL grade.

Fair enough.

You folks sound a lot more decent than the visitors here from other SEC schools.

Love the opportunity to play UT. When in someone else's house, IMHO don't be rude but don't hold back from speaking your mind.

However, intraconference discussions may be exempt from civil behavior.
