It has everything to do with the west coast. The only reason that you do not realize that is that it does not fit your stupid agenda. Of course I guess I should not be surprised considering you do not know the difference between excepted and accepted. It is well known that when it comes to sports it is tough to keep west coast guys away from jobs in the west coast. Take Jeff Tedford for example, he has garnered interest for more money from programs that are bigger than Cal, yet he has shown know interest in them. One of the many reasons that he did not accept the texas job last year is that he always planned to head west, this has been well known for a while, you just choose to ignore it.

Come on man, if you're going to bash someone else's grammer, double check yours...

The pay was not the issue. Im sure Washington gave him a longer term contract ,more job security.

When you turn down Texas saying you believe in what Tennessee is doing and a year later you take a pay cut jump ship to a .500 team yea sounds like that's all that's going on here

well when you are on a team that just has its worst sec record in 100 years and loses to ky for the first time in 26 years and everybody is calling for your bosses head maybe you get worried about job security? is that possible?

they paid their previous DC $650k (one that ended his run by giving up 777 yards and 67 points), Wilcox was set to make $700k this season at UT, UW had to pay no buyout and and he still took a pay cut? Either AA is wrong or Wilcox isn't very smart

or maybe he got a multi year contract for 650k a year? whats better one year at 700k or 3-5 years at 650k? either way its been said his contract details havent been released so its all speculation at this point.

He left for the west coast because the Sunday games come on TV at 10 AM and the Monday night football game is over much earlier so he can get some sleep.

that only works if you think his salary dropped at UT in 2013

Dooley is right- this is an opportunity to get better. What have Wilcox and Sermin really done? We were all scared when Coach K left because we lost touted recruits like Markeith Ambles- but then Dooley lands Hunter and Rogers. Those UW coaches did their jobs well- but are not irreplaceable and can be improved upon. Dooley had to take down the glass house Coach K was building- and start fresh. But this is how it is done the right way. I know we all want a coaching announcement yesterday, but not at the expense of missing out on the best hire. Shannon may be that guy, but maybe that guy is still coaching and can't deal right now.

You have to love Dooley for loving our crazy fans. He wants this to work out so bad. Believe it. He's making the right calls. Letting Arnett go was exactly the right thing to do. I'm sad he's leaving, but the kid deserves to be released. And his statement just erased any negative recruiting tactics any other coach could have pulled. Dooley knows this hire is huge. It may not be the big name we all love to see, but he will hire a good coach. Probably someone better than Wilcox, and more committed than Wilcox.

Adios PAC12ers! Have fun trying to wake that sleeping giant. And get ready, cause I have a feeling that this big orange giant and sleepin' no more!

I agree with your post, but I doubt his statement gets 1/4 of the coverage the original story did. Better send out a copy to all our current commits, and those that are still considering us

Anyone ever make a lateral move to move away from an area you dislike to move to an area you do like? It happens. A lot.

The guy has lived in the Pac Northwest all his life. Maybe he didn't like the South. Sounds crazy, I know.

I don't consider being a defensive coordinator at a top-tier SEC school and being the defensive coordinator at a mid-level pac 12 school to be equal.

If I was hiring a defensive head coach at a BCS school I'd go first to someone who coached a top notch defense in the SEC. JMO.

Perhaps if you are going to be one of the grammer police, you should follow your own rules. Just sayin.

The guy wanted no part of the SEC and was ready to bail given the chance. I also think not taking the Texas job proved that he was scared of big time football, otherwise he would have been gone last year. I think at his age he isn't ready mentally JMO.
