History tells us to stick with Fulmer.

I'm willing to make a pretty sizable wager if you're willing to define success as the 3 years after look better than the 3 years prior. Broaden it to 5 or 7 years if you like.

I'm willing to bet this crowd won't be patient for 2 years, much less 3-7. I'm not saying we don't need change, just that it most likely won't go the way a lot of people invision.

Your reading skills are lacking, we've had 4-10 win seasons in 7. Anytime you win 10 or more games in a season, it's hard to call it a failure.

OK, Now show me where Hamilton's expectations are to win at least two SEC championships during a 10-year period and get to the SEC title game every three or four years, as well as play in BCS bowls with some regularity; was reduced to 4-10 win seasons in 7 years during 13-14 games schedules.

I think that you would be wrong. After 10 years of mediocrity, this is the 1st time the heat has been this hot on CPF.

You should raise your expectations of success if you think a coach that brings in a top notch recruiting class at least once every 3 years can only beat 10 of the 14 teams they play.

Can anyone please post Phil's record against the big three since 2000?

Maybe people are forgetting the teams we are beating to get that prestigious "10 wins."

For those of you hung up on Fulmer's salary, and want to relate the team to that salary level, shouldn't expect to be any better than 7th in the SEC. That's right, Fulmer has the 7th highest salary in the SEC.

SEC Coaches Salaries and Contracts

Outside of Petrino, all the coaches above him are better, as are the two coaches below him.

For example:

From 1998-2004, Joe Paterno was 40-39 with no conference titles and two bowl wins. In 2005, he roared back to an 11-1 record and a Big 10 Championship. Since, then he's 29-9 and possibly playing for a national title this year.

From 1979-1985, Bo Schembechler was 60-23 with one Big 10 Title. He went on to lead the Wolverines to a 38-10 record with three Conference Titles over the last four years of his career at Michigan.

After winning four national titles, the great Bear Bryant posted a 28-20 record with three straight bowl losses from 1967-1970. He went on to win three more national titles and nine SEC titles from 1971-1982.

.

Nice examples. Jo Pa should have been fired years ago. Seeing the conference he and Bo were in are of no comparision to the SEC. They should have never had losing records in that conference.

Phil Fulmer is no Bear Bryant and is not even worthy of a of being mentioned in the same paragraph with him.

You're right, of all the insults I've heard to Fulmer, that's the worst.

There is no denying that Coach Fulmer's first nine years at UT were better than his last seven. I personally don't think a 63-27 record with four #1 finishes in the SEC East and three bowl wins is all that bad, but they're definately worse than his 84-17 record with a National Title, two SEC titles and five bowl wins.

However, this is no time to panic and, in my opinion, no time for a coaching change. Set emotion aside and look at numbers. They don't lie. Coach Fulmer's career is following trends established by some of the greatest coaches in College Football history.

For example:

We're going through a little bit of a rough patch right now, but we've got the right staff in place to see us through it. If we're not careful, we'll learn a lesson Michigan is learning now the hard way. Stability is very important in college football.

I'm Phil Fulmer, and I endorse this message.

Don't get all salty eyed about it yet. Afterall phil is still coaching us right now.
That's right. Nobody should feel sorry for Phil. He's been able to do what he's dreamed of for years...coach his alma mater. His been paid very well to do it. Phil will never have to work a day again in his life. He's gotten to live his dream...very few people in this world get to experience that. No, I don't feel sorry for him. Yeah I'll be sad to see him go but if he needs help moving just let me know, I'll help.

He has been a good coach for a long time and I thank him for his dedication to the program but his time has come.

How many coaches take a team with a lot less talent than UT and beat the crap out of opponents? Coach Cut, Bobby Johnson, Chris Peterson, Gus Malzahn...Rick Neuheisel beat us with 2nd and 3rd stringers! My Mother could coach UT with our talent and get better results.

The true test of a coach is "doing more with less".

Considering the recent results, I would be happy with mediocrity right now.

Also, tell your local Lions to quit beating up on my Indians. Being in the same division with Autauga County is like being in the same division as Maryville up here.

W-E-T-U-M-P-K-A, Wetumpka Indians all the way!

GO VOLS!

Prattville is a football machine! I've never in my entire life seen a HS with a seperate indoor practice facility (except for Hoover). Does Wetumpka have one? I watched Prattville play Brentwood Academy and a DT tackled the BA QB and RB at the same time!

I went to Wetumpka many years ago when it was still a 3A school. Prattville and Wetumpka have both benefited from the urban flight out of Montgomery. Up until the mid-80's Lee, Lanier, and JD ruled the state of Alabama in HS football. Prattville and Wetumpka are the benefactors of a huge transfer of that population. Prattville and Hoover have a lot in common. Elmore County is still considered somewhat rural in some ways. To be fair Prattville should have to play in a Div III NCAA league.

You can take it or leave it. I own a barber shop and talked to someone very close to CPF. Told me off the record CPF will retire at end of season . This is someone who talks with CPF almost every day and they spend allot of time together . He is someone who would know for sure. You can believe it or not but he isn't the trainer or my brother in laws cousin who's a janitor at UT , Hes a very credible business man.

The points you make about the OC are why a lot of people are scepticle of a coaching change. We would PROBABLY go through similar situations with a new head coach. I also fear that whoever they get would only please a portion of the fans and desention would still exist. After all, we haven't been very patient with Clawson, and most knew before the season started that we were in transition.

The points I made were directed at a HC inability to get it right. He is the common denominator!
