Hire mike norvell now!!!

Tee definitely isn't in the tier with Brohm. Brohm had success at WK and has Purdue playing better than they ever have. Even in the games Purdue has lost they gave Mich and Wisc all they wanted. Hes doing more with less than anyone I've seen in a while. Not like many 4-5 star players are knocking down the door at Purdue to go play football. I would put Brohm in a whole different class than Norvell,Tee, Brown, and even Kiffin. Wouldd put Brohm and Frost in the same class and 2 guys I fully expect to be championship level type coach's. I think DJ Durkin could be another one to put with Brohm and Frost.Could be wrong but honestly after Gruden I would take any of those 3 next. If Durkin wasn't down to his 3rd string QB Maryland would be a lot better. Just not sure what the ceiling at Maryland is. Can't be easy to recruit there and that makes it harder to compete with Ohio St, Mich, Wisc and Penn St. But rely like him too. No way in hell I would even consider Tee as a HC right now. He's not even killing it as an OC right now.
I agree with you on Tee! In another thread me and a south Carolina fan was talking he was like T should get the job due to his resume, but me personally I was unsure and you hit the nail right on the head! He has a great resume as a position coach and is doing pretty good as an OC, but HC credentials are needed.

Our current situation is in no way a "dumpster fire" Good grief!

*OT win vs Georgia Tech (who went for two to win)
*Pushed around and nearly beat by UMass
*Smoked by Georgia
*Handled by South Carolina
*Saban's choice of score tomorrow
*Will "probably" beat Southern Miss
*Will lose at least 3 of the 4 remaining games
*5th year head coach should be at his peak getting worse
*Prior 2 coaches were cartoon characters
*Current coach is being laughed at nationally
*Fans are disgusted (see VolNation)
*There is no reason to think a name brand coach is interested in coming here
*Recruits are leaving as we speak
*Saban has first refusal on any prime athlete he chooses for as long as he wishes
*Smart has second refusal
*Memphis is removing athletes from our consideration
*The hottest topic of the fan base is whether a former NFL coach who inherited Tony Dungee's program and won the Super Bowl and who has done nothing but be a broadcaster for the past decade can come and save our program

We will again be relevant. Someday. But for the reasons above and many, many others, we, my friend, are at this time an out of control dumpster fire.

:hi:

So frost is now Watson brown and norvell is Saban. And of course that one game is the only reason I like frost. Frost came on on the heels of 0-12 and norvell followed Fuentes who is the coach above both of them. However my post was suppose to be more of something funny with a play on the name.

It was Sarcasm man. Only point was just because one coach beat another it doesn't make him the better coach. Just better on that particular day. The

Finebaum and laura are letting us have it. The bama fans behind them are hollering "keep butch jones" its a big laugh. Laura says the the rest of the sec just loves butch and wants him to stay forever.

They went on and on about memphis being, by far, no doubt the best team in Tennessee. Paul gave historical reference about how strange it is to say that. How memphis was always the little step-brother.

They agreed vols would be much better off with norvell and should hire norvell.

Then they talked Gruden. Realistically talked gruden, how it would change the face of the sec. How gruden was a certified rock star.

Then said butch would renegotiate buyout to step down and save face. Paul said thats whats going to happen. So a lot of insider stuff has gone in line with what we are hearing.

Memphis has scored 42, 30, 70, 40, and 44 since Tennessee last scored a touchdown. If that's 15 touchdowns, then they've hit 45 field goals in the same period (or maybe 68 safeties).
Yeah, it's actually 24 TDs. Good catch. Terrible journalism. Still that's just horrendous, whether it's 15 or 24.

Memphis didn't look so great against Scott Frost and UCF.

Nobody has looked so good against him this year. I guess I should clarify that by adding "but they don't play nobody" (isn't that always what we say when someone else is having success?). Will be interesting to see if he tools Navy as bad.

Anyway, he'll go to Nebraska. Smaller dumpster fire.

Exactly. Same fan base that thinks Norvell can't coach. Keep in my mind, a large majority of them had their noses stitched to ***** Jones sack up until a few weeks ago. We deserve what we get. Coach Googleme step on up

Nah most fans gave up on him halfway through last season.I think Norvell could be a really Good coach but just like with Frost there's a very small body of work so who knows. I posted earlier all it takes is 1 good season for a coach to get a high profile job. Willie Taggart has a career losing record in 8 years and last year he had his first 10 win season and boom gets the Oregon job.

You can make the same argument about every other realistic candidate for our job. Look, I'd love to think we could lure Franklin, Shaw or Patterson. Any of those guys would get me to renew my seats. Sadly, all 3 are pipe dreams.

Brohm, Fuente and Norvell seem to be the types we can hopefully lure to this job. All are solid but who knows how they'll respond swimming in the big pond. Forget Gruden, Petrino and Kelly. Those simply aren't happening. Simply no guarantees in this situation.

Brohm has impressed me. Fuente is decent. Norvell is quite a few notches below them

Tennessee doesn't need a coach like Norvell. Norvell is a builder. He builds on something started. Tennessee needs a coach that rehabs dumpster fires. Fuente is that kind of coach. He rehabbed Memphis when it was a dumpster fire like Tennessee is now. He could rehab Tennessee.

Problem is he has no interest in Tennessee.

Tennessee is by no means a dumpster fire

Plenty of talent on this team, just being mismanaged. The missing piece is a coach...

dump·ster fire

a chaotic or disastrously mishandled situation.
"last season was a dumpster fire, and it didn't get that way overnight"

Everyone keeps saying no to realistic options and keeps nagging on Gruden and Kelly.

There's a better chance of Kate Upton leaving Justin Verlander and dating one of us guys on Vol Nation than there is any chance of Chip Kelly or Jon Gruden being our next head football coach.

Why do you think that Kelly would not want to coach at Tennessee? It has everything in place but a big time, winning coach.

Agreed. Why is everybody writing off Kelly so easily? Is it just because we are assuming he is a West Coast only guy? Just because he sucked in the NFL with the Eagles doesn?t mean he can?t coach in the East.

UT Seems like a great situation for him to come into.

To hell with it, I will take the job. 3 million per year for 4 years with a measly 5 million buyout. Power I 90 percent of the time to feature our backs and 5-2 monster every down on defense to shut down the run. D4H will be the recruiting coordinator, Gruden will be OC with Peyton coaching QBs. We cannot lose.
1st and goal on the 1.... I am going to run it.
