Hinshaw to WR coach.

Does anyone know if Hinshaw has had any experience coaching WR's before? If he learned enough about the position from Baggett while he was here then I can understand the move.

The receivers will definitely be on the same page with the QBs and improve in that area, but will their techniques and fundamentals suffer as a consequence?

3 years at Memphis as WR coach. has coached QBs and RBs also

Heinstand only teaches the blocking scheme that Chaney tells him to so Chaney can call plays. Chaney is by no form or fashion an OC who wants balance, he wants to air it out and place more burden on our defense.

we have no real desire to run the ball. doug matthews has said that all along. we give the running game lip service but that is all. this will be dooleys downfall. he refuses to press the kicking game or invest in running the ball. dead man walking.

Do you think CDD promotes the G.A. to full time assistant coach of the Running Backs? I hope not! I want Larry Porter. He is suppose to be one of the best recruiters in the country. I love J Graham but we need great recruiters!

no, he will not get that. Chino is going to NFL is what I've heard

I am glad this is happening. Chaney can do a great job getting a passing game going, especially with Bray, Hunter, and Rogers.

Now who will be the new RB coach. I have no issue with Jay Graham.

No doubt Porter is a great recruiter but by all accounts JG is pretty darn good as well.

Would you rather have Jim Bob Cooter? He was a SEC qb??

I'm just glad we're getting a RB coach. Hope it's a homerun. May help with recruiting a big time RB too. Hinshaw has experience coaching WRs, not sure how good he is or not

CDD has to know his seat is warming up with the loss to KY. That said, I wonder if he's trying to buy an extra year if next season goes off the tracks again? If little improvement is made in the running game next season, he could throw Hiestand (and maybe Chaney) under the bus and clean house. His offensive staff could potentially be his escape-goat get-out-of-jail-free card.

If he were to let Hiestand or Chaney go now, and then the running game continues to suck in 2012 under a different coordinator/OLC, you have to figure he'd be a goner for sure - a la Fulmer after the Clawfence disaster of 2008.
first off really weak conspiracy theory.

second the word is frigging SCAPEGOAT

JUST FILED TO GVX: Vols are in the market for a running backs coach. Darin Hinshaw expected to take over WRs, Chaney to handle QBs.

Thoughts?

just thinking that there is no wonder why we suck with such poor coaching.

Given that he sees every practice in detail he knew more than most anyone the prospective capabilities in the run game and noticed we had three budding stars in the passing game and our o-line actually pass blocks quite well and decided to focus on the pass game as our primary weapon...I'd find fault with him if he had not pursued that strategy. Poole was not an SEC caliber back and our o-line being 4 Sophs and a LT that will likely be passed by a RS Frosh next year just wasn't ready blow people of the LOS.

I like the Graham hire but would love to see Russell and Heistand replaced on the staff. Maybe Dooley can get a former kicker as a GA to work with Palardy.

I would love to see Mitch Browning coaching the OL and Jeremy Bates to coach the QB's. He could also serve as the co-offensive coordinator. Dooley could coach Special Teams.

DD needs to read Volnation more frequently. This was all over VN a week ago.

So if Jerry Rice wanted to coach receivers somewhere he couldn't because he went to Ms Valley? I know Hinshaw isn't Rice, but you get my point.

i agree! people put far too much emphasis on resumes. some can have really good resumes just off who they know and really suck!
