JUST FILED TO GVX: Vols are in the market for a running backs coach. Darin Hinshaw expected to take over WRs, Chaney to handle QBs.

Austin Ward on Twitter.

Thoughts?

Hinshaw wasn't doing anything special with the QBs.

Here's to hoping he's a better WR coach than he is a QB coach.

Hope he has a good standing relationship with Rogers and Hunter!

Jay Graham RB coach at South Carolina should be on DD short list of potential coaches for this position. Perhaps Heinstand can get the WR's to block downfield better

Expected. Would like to get rid of Heistand. He's the only coach (at this point) I've had any issues with in terms of questioning if they should be with us next season. That includes CDD.

Please lose Heistand!

No doubt. Would have liked to see Chaney move down to coach the OL, thats where has most experience. Then hire RB coach.
guess we would still need a wr coach..
hmmm..the plot thickens..

This is suppose to be WR U and we have a Sunbelt qb coaching the wrs lol

I am one of the most positive posters on this board but couldn't agree more. Clearly we don't know everything, but I would have preferred letting Hinshaw go in favor of always having a big-name WR coach. I think it is good for a program to have an identity.

That's a mighty big drop off in experience from Baggett to Hinshaw, as said, it was expected...fingers crossed.

Here is yall's favorite UT writer's tweet on the situation

UT QB coach Darrin Hinshaw has been moved to WR coach to replace the retiring Charlie Baggett. UT has told recruits of this move.

I know its been said a hundered times, but I'm for bringing J. Graham home to UT. I checked his coaching stats. He has improved the running game every school he has coached...and he is a good recruiter! He got Lattimore to SC.

CDD has to know his seat is warming up with the loss to KY. That said, I wonder if he's trying to buy an extra year if next season goes off the tracks again? If little improvement is made in the running game next season, he could throw Hiestand (and maybe Chaney) under the bus and clean house. His offensive staff could potentially be his escape-goat get-out-of-jail-free card.

If he were to let Hiestand or Chaney go now, and then the running game continues to suck in 2012 under a different coordinator/OLC, you have to figure he'd be a goner for sure - a la Fulmer after the Clawfence disaster of 2008.

If Graham is on our list. They will not do anything until after South Carolina's Bowl Game.

Hinshaw is much to valuable in recruiting to be let go. He has been a pleasant surprise on the recruiting trail.

Heinstand only teaches the blocking scheme that Chaney tells him to so Chaney can call plays. Chaney is by no form or fashion an OC who wants balance, he wants to air it out and place more burden on our defense.

If Porter is still available, I would love to see him here. I would also love to see Jay Graham as well.

Does anyone know if Hinshaw has had any experience coaching WR's before? If he learned enough about the position from Baggett while he was here then I can understand the move.

The receivers will definitely be on the same page with the QBs and improve in that area, but will their techniques and fundamentals suffer as a consequence?

Do you think CDD promotes the G.A. to full time assistant coach of the Running Backs? I hope not! I want Larry Porter. He is suppose to be one of the best recruiters in the country. I love J Graham but we need great recruiters!
