That saying has typically been proven true for a lot of scenarios... However I don't believe this one applies, maybe it will in some very distant future but curried and confused should be the title for whatever book is written about this... We got bamboozled.

Currie promised "Expensive and Explosive"

With all the buyots and possibly owing SchiaNO $.....its gonna be expensive

And I don't even need to explain the explosive part.

What a week!

I never in my wildest nightmares thought this football program would fall to the depths of being considered the "biggest jokes in sports" as one writer said today. Not just football...not just college football..but SPORTS..period. I know..."screw them and what they think" etc etc but to see that perception attached to the Vol football program is painful and demoralizing. It makes me angry at those responsible for making our loyal...great fanbase...have to endure that. It's so wrong on so many levels. It's painful to see this once proud program being publicy derided, defamed...mocked at this level.

People are enjoying our downfall. Reveling in it and piling on. Some of it is unfair...but it's not something I thought we'd ever come close to seeing. We can say "who cares what they think...screw em"..and that's fine, but that perception is affecting the coaches out there...the recruits...the potential recruits....EVERYTHING...so this perception DOES matter.

We can wait as long as we want to get a new coach..but each day we don't have one will add even more fuel for this perception. I don't wanna rush into a bad hire...but we need to proceed aggressively toward the right one. Yeah...I'm mad and resentful to the ones responsible for making us endure this BS. We don't deserve it...we just don't.

Go Vols.

There's a big opportunity here if they can make the right calls from here on out. Currie out was a big step in the right direction and we know that Fulmer loves our school too much to make the same kind of decisions that Currie was making.

No he didn’t say that. Go back and watch his presser.

According to the Martinez kid out of California, it is what Currie promised him when he called and told him Butch was fired. So presumably that is what he was telling our commits.

Yeah, Currie said his search for a coach would be, "Big... Expensive... Explosive..."

But I don't remember him mentioning the word "Embarrassing" regarding his search for a coach... did he mention that?

Well he did hit "Big... Expensive... Explosive..." and certainly "Embarrassing to epic proportions..." whether he meant to or not, both to himself and to the University, during his coach search.

John Currie, Jim Haslam, and Beverly Davenport have made UT the laughingstock of the world, and especially the college football world this past week, as they tried to hire several coaches, both good and bad, without success, bringing more laughter from the outside world... and more ire from Volnation and the rest of the Tennessee-friendly world.

Now John Currie is gone, hopefully to Washington, North Korea, or to some remote weather station on the tundra of northern Alaska. Davenport either needs to go as well... or she needs to smarten up as to the real needs of running an athletic department as vast and complex as UT's. Haslam needs to become a forgotten face in the offices and hallways of the UT athletic complex. His control needs to be over once and for all. No one person needs to have the stranglehold he has had over an athletic director such as he has over the past fifteen years of so.

Phil Fulmer is now our UT Athletic Director for at least two years. He needs to have the rumors and innuendo cease, and he needs to have the complete and unwavering support of the administration, coaches, players, and fan base... including Volnation. Phil needs to build a relationship with the fan base, keep in touch with us, and thereby we will be able to have confidence in the direction he is taking the various athletic programs at UT. The immediate concern, of course, is that he hire a great coach who can clean up the mess made since his firing in 2008... and what a mess it is!

We fans need to realize that no matter who Fulmer hires as head coach, it may take several years for the football program to rise from the ashes the program now is. Current players are softer and more out of shape than we've ever seen Vol players, current team is completely demoralized, current recruit roster is a big question mark of "Who will come now?", coaching staff will have to be completely overhauled, and the list goes on. So, Volnation, we need to be patient if our next coach does not win the SECE next year... or the next. It may take two or three recruiting cycles for players to begin to trust UT once more after the shenanigans of Currie and Haslam. So let's be patient and give Phil and the next coach at least reasonable time to succeed. I believe they will... but only if we stand behind them and support them... and stop with all the negative "Phil backstabbed Currie to become AD garbage." No, Currie and Haslam backstabbed themselves by their own actions. Now, let's support Fulmer and the Vols or get off the bus.

Hate... and fire away at will...

Fulmer bleed orange like the rest of us. Maybe he had to stab one or two in the back to make this right. Worked out well when he took over as HC.

Funny how people keep saying Fulmer stabbed someone in the back, when they were not there to know the exact truth of what actually went down at any particular time. Fuller always showed complete loyalty to Majors until Majors was fired and Fulmer was promoted to HC. Was there backstabbing going on? We DO NOT know, but we do know that Majors was very ill and unable to coach at the time... and the team needed a coach on the sidelines. It was the AD who made the call on that, not Fulmer. Was Fulmer biting at the chops wanting the pay raise... wouldn't most of us?

If Fulmer and a few of the money-rich boosters worked together to pull a coup to rid UT of a string of three inept athletic directors, and release Haslam's stranglehold on UT sports by through behind the scenes action... and it worked to UT's favor... hallelujah! Thank God somebody finally had the wisdom and the brass to get the job done.

The national sportswriters are still in shock that a fan base rose up and said enough is enough. They paraded Schiano's name around as the 2nd coming and simply can't grasp how their all-knowing sports knowledge can ever be questioned. Their just pizzed that the peasants dared challenge their expertise.
