Hillary wins Pennsylvania...

well when talking about a glass ceiling we are almost always taking about average wages and thefore taking about averages is appropriate. I guess we agree?

Perhaps...but I still say that the core issue is about whether or not women should have equal pay given to them as a legislative right or not. Whether or not congress should require businesses to provide equal pay. In that case, congress should provide equal pay to ALL citizens, regardless of sex, race or creed. No more of this "allowing businesses to decide how much a person should get paid." I mean who could imagine such!

The core issue at hand here is not about why women - in general - on average - are paid less than men.

that is the core issue for many in the debate.

I'm glad i don't have to work with women. Not that you don't have a point, gr82, but to me it's all a big hassle.

I think education, or lack thereof, plays a factor. Not as much as those with college degrees. but without. There are several well paying jobs that are "Male Oriented" available without a degree, in the construction industry. I don't think women have the same level of income potential working layman jobs, and that skews the averages.

on the other hand, male escorts can't make anywhere near the money that female escorts make. Not only are most man-ho's limited in number of nightly gigs, their single gig fees just can't approach what Spitzer was shelling out.

the fact is if any group was underpaid 30% despite having the same skills and work ethic employers would have a huge incentive to hire said people because they could save millions in the process. edit: all women or minority run firms would instantly have much high profit margins and run all the white firms out of business. profit is far more important to most companies and managers than making sure white males make all the money. and from a personal point of view i am far more likely to hire a minority or woman over a white male if they are equally qualified because of my company's anti discrimination rules.

And...exactly why jobs in America are getting lost to India and why when you call a toll free number now for anything, you have to deal with a language barrier. It's all about the bottom line to these guys.

Of course!! Sorry I didn't catch that one....I am so out of touch with the fact that I live in Michigan. Seriously.

But, yes, you are right. Go Big 10! We should stop talking now. I bleed blue. You bleed red. These two do not co-mingle. Not sure how we got along for this long.

That commercial (for ESPN I thinK) where the guy bails out of the car on a blind date cracks me up.
