Freak,
Is there anyway to raise the posting standards in the recruiting forum or monitor the threads more closely to better mitigate the negativity about potential recruits?
I don't blame our fanbase, rather, I think society in general is currently enveloped in drama and negativity. Of course, our current football climate does not help the matter.
These kids sometimes make the mistake of posting stupid pictures on facebook and writing dumb things on tweeter. As soon as these teenagers conduct themselves in such a manner we immediately go to the internet to bash them. Some fans may not think a recruit is ideal for us because he has 3* by his name instead of 5*, even though the stars mean about as much as a preseason top-25 poll. The unhappy fans tend to say we do not "need" that recruit or we should not "waste" a scholarship on them. It is not sensible to think these teenagers do not read these threads because they are young, impressionable and want to know what fanbases think about their talents.
I realize we all have First Amendment rights, however, this is a private website and not a government run entity. Therefore, none of us really have First Amendment rights when it comes to "volnation.com." Freak may censor us as he pleases.
Is it possible to take a more active approach in mitigating the negativity aimed at potential recruits?
I decided to post this in the forum to see if others might agree or have alternative ideas.
