Well as a USC fan I admit, my world was a bit shaken by Pete heading to the NFL...but at the same time I am happy for him..

But this whole Lane Kiffin thing is a bit too much too soon. First and foremost, even though I COMPLETELY understand the anger amongst SOME Vols fans, this has to be Kiffins dream job..I mean seriously..USC is Kiffins original home and I could only Imagine that this is the only job that he would walk out of Tennessee for. Now it’s funny how things can change so soon…and the old saying is true, “there is a thin line between love and hate”. A lot of the guys in here that were praising Kiffin yesterday are now tearing the guy down today. My thing is this..either he’s a cool guy or not... now if you are one of those people who never liked him to begin with, so be it. But if you are one of those guys that liked him, but now hate him, let me remind you of two things.. 1. College Football is a business. 2. No one owes you anything. If I were in Kiffins shoes and the one football program who made me what I was suddenly needed a coach, HELL yea I would go. My only gripe with him, is that if there is any truth to him persuading Tennessee recruits to head to USC, then I think that is classless..Tennessee should be able to keep their kids..USC has enough talent.

But all in all, I still like the Tennessee program and I wish you guys the best luck, May your next coach take the VolNation to unpatrolled heights.

God Bless USC Trojan…

YouTube - Ed Orgeron trying to screw UT football one last time

here from the news about the "calling the recruits to USC while still there" etc

i do think the major issue was not it being better business, but that the guy pretty much decided in a day, gave a 1 minute bye conference, told everyone the day of, and then up and bolted as quick as he could

a whole lot of people feel very betrayed....a whole lot of people backed him up when everyone wasgiving him **** for his actions, and they feel hurt that in the end he just threw them aside like nothing

Kiff is who he is and always has been. The good news is you're getting a good football coach and a good recruiter. I'm sure that's all that matters to you.

No offense, but I hope you don't have a football team in three years.

Kiffin is going to run that program into the ground just like he did ours. We are angry but this is a blessing in disguise for our program. People tried to warn our program and we didn't listen. Your program just made a HUGE mistake. You clearly don't see that now but you will in years to come.

Kiffin made a career move for more money, easier recruiting, bigger name, weak conference, etc. But he lied about wanting to stay at UT long term.

I'm in the minority but I've got no real problem with him taking this job.

i'm with ya...I would hope no one would hate me for going after my dream job or if my dream job came calling after me...I don't understand the riots and all this hatred toward someone who in 14 months changed this program for the better

In the words of Vince Vaughn, "I hope you trip and knock your two front teeth out, ya selfish sonofab--ch"!

You've been a great poster on here, but even you have to recognize that this circus is just beyond the pale.

Our program will be crippled for 3-5 years. We are now Auburn ca. 1999; LSU under Gerry DiNardo; Clemson under Tommy West; Georgia under Ray Goff.

Its not the fact that the guy went to his dream job. Its the way he went about it. Dirty.

This is a tough one. I can see why he took it. I would also have hoped that part of his character was a determination to finish a job. It is a tough call when something you dreamed about every day for years (as a USC assistant) is suddenly offered to you and you've only barely started on another task you took on. Right now, I can't help but be peeved with him for where he has left us as a program...this is a huge kick in the sack to UT, and he knows it...and doesn't really care. We couldn't expect him to care about UT, but I had hoped he would care enough about finishing the job (by at least some metric).

Thanks, Trojan.

Here's how I feel, and how I'm sure many other UT fans as well.

I don't blame USC. You guys had a vacancy to fill, the ties are there (and have been for years), and Kiffin runs a great team. It's a smart hire by USC, even if Kiffin wasn't their first choice.

But here's where the Volunteer FAITHFUL stand.
We're betrayed. We're angry (obviously, if you've heard about the on-campus "riots"). And although I wish I could say I wish the best for USC, that won't happen as long as Kiffin is there.

After he quits, is fired, or just frikkin' BOLTS, I wouldn't be opposed to USC running the Pac-10 again. But right now, I'm trying to figure out a way to take Kiffin's dagger out of my back.
