Just sayin, long offseason.:dunno:

Edit: I stand corrected, it was the colts. Makes a lot more sense.:p

I think Peyton would take the job in a second. I think we have an incredibly insecure little man of a coach that gets his feelings hurt and doesn't want to be overshadowed. So sad he'd stand in the way of us bringing home our greatest hero who would undoubtedly elevate the recruitment. Sad and pathetic

First, it was the Colts. Second, we've already hired a qb coach as of the weekend, Mike Canales. Third, I hope Peyton never gets anywhere near coaching at Tennessee.....want him to keep his sterling, exalted image and reputation as an all-time Vol great in tact.

You know, the combination of your username and your post content creates an almost insurmountable hurdle for the legalization movement. :zeitung_lesen:

My God. At least Butch's other haters make logical, coherent points. I mean, where's your proof that he's standing in the way?

Are you sad because of your own negative thoughts. Or, are you sad because of some actual documentable / linkable information?

Peyton made multiple comments expressing interest in the job. And almost as soon as those comments were made butch came out and said something to the effect of Peyton is always welcome to be around the program but that it. If butch wasn't standing in the way he could say publicly I offered Peyton the job. Why wouldn't he do that if he wanted him here?
And the sad thing is that butch is destined to fail here. He's as incompetent of a sideline coach as I've ever seen. Yet he'd rather fail on his own than bring in a guy that could help him win and share any of the credit. So I'll say again...sad and pathetic

Peyton. Does. Not. Want. To. Coach.

He was joking in the interview he gave two years ago about taking a quarterback coaching job here. If he had wanted to do it, he would be here yesterday.

If he ever works in football again, it will be as a general manager or front office executive in the NFL. The man is never going to coach in college or any other level.

I'm certainly no CBJ apologist, but you need to stop digging your hole now.

I agree with this. As soon as he wants a job at UT all he has to do is call and say so. Whoever says no would be fired as soon as Peyton went public with the rejection. All that knew about the rejection would be fired and Peyton would be hired. It that's simple and I'm no insider.

Thanks for saying this 12.....dear God people, Peyton, like Gruden, is never coming here to coach, and they shouldn't, especially Peyton. Peyton needs to have influence behind the scenes as an ambassador and booster, while running an NFL team in some capacity.

For one thing, how the hell do you know he was joking. He definitely wasn't laughing when he said it. He said point blank he would have an interest in coaching the qbs but wouldn't seek out a head coaching position. It wasn't a joke. Now who knows how serious he might be but if I was butch I would've immediately called him and offered him that opportunity. And if he turned it down butch should've found an opportunity in an interview to say I offered him the job and if he ever chooses to get into coaching he'll always have a spot with us at ut.
But butch said almost the complete opposite.
Y'all can all say what you want. It's funny, I said a couple of years ago how incompetent butch was as a decision maker. And I was almost mocked by almost every in here for saying that even though a huge number of college football analyst and former coaches said the same thing. Finally, after a bunch of additional follies most have come to realize I was right in criticizing him. Yet here everyone is saying that butch would've welcomed Peyton when all the evidence points elsewhere. At what point will the majority of the people on here stop expecting butch to make logical and intelligent decisions. Why are y'all unable to realize what an idiot this guy is. Is it just being blinded by how much we all love ut football? Trust me, I love ut football as much as anyone. It's why I so passionately want us to remove butch and bring in a top level coach. My 8 year old is a die hard fan but has never know anything except not winning. It breaks my heart. With all the resources we have and tradition we deserve better than what did cowherd call him? A hs gym teacher. How do y'all not see what the majority of people not affiliated with this program see? We have an idiot at the helm!

Easy, chatt. Nobody's blinded here. Your inflammatory comments and accusations about our inability to "...see the obvious.".. are not helping your case whatsoever. Butch Jones is a lot of things, but, an idiot is not one of them. He's UT's HC for at least one to two more years and we, whom have followed the Vols with a passion, since we were kids, (I'll be 72 in June) are hoping he's the guy. Time will tell, but, right now he, his staff and the players, God bless 'em, deserve our support. Hop on board, my friend. We just might all be pleasantly surprised...

Man, im no Butch fan, but you are just making yourself look like a complete fool doubling down on this idiocy. PM has expressed support for CBJ on numerous occasions. He is turning down NFL GM jobs with nearly umlimited amounts of power within the franchise and you honestly believe its some stupid conspiracy from an incompetent coach as the reason he doesnt want to become the QB coach at the University of Tennesee? Get real man.
