Who was the last SEC coach to eat this much crap his first two years and still turn it around?

Give me some hope here

Spurrier, Mullen

Edit: Mullen went 9-4 his second year, but had back to back 7-6 seasons after that. Point is, not every coach can turn it around in 2 years, but the ones that can't are compared to the ones that can.

Ole Miss has more than it's share of what we used to call the cornbread aristocracy, some of whom are good people and some of whom are not. Sounds like you got a bad spot but took the high road. Thanks for representing us with class.
Yea before the game I was in the pisser and some guy was talking bout he jus got cussed out by a Vol I just shook my head and said everybody has em and apologized. It's really hard pill to swallow when ya spend your money on a product like this. I keep telling myself it will get better.

1. Tennessee is the only team in the FBS to not return any starters on offensive or defensive lines.
2. Tennessee playing over 20 freshman this year with multiple starters. Old maxim is you will lose 1 game for each 1 freshman starter.
3. Tennessee starts true freshman at defensive end for first time in history of the school.
4. Tennesee OL has two true freshman and no real OT that is SEC caliber. Dooley.
5. Tennessee had a top 5 recruiting class in 2014.
6. Tennessee has another top 5 recruiting class in 2015.
7. Tennessee lost close games to Georgia and Florida by a combined four points.
8. Tennessee got blown out last night by the number 3 team in the country during an away game.

The sky is not falling. I have friends who are alumni of other SEC schools that are coming to me and telling me the obvious: that we have a great coach in place and that they know Tennessee is coming back. Rome wasn't built in a day and CBJ has got a really young team. Please be patient and recognize the pendulum is swinging back. Don't say stupid things like the coaching staff is inept or should be fired. That only reflects pure ignorance.

Things are improving and although we're basically mediocre this year, we'll hopefully qualify for a bowl game, and the building blocks are in place for our team to compete for the SEC Championship potentially as early as next year and definitely the year after.

GBO.

Get your facts straight! Things have not improved!!! We are on track to have a worse season than we had with Dooley!!

There was some bad playcalling but really no more than what I saw from
other teams yesterday. Some of those even won.

I hate ragging on the guys but poor player execution was
by far the biggest problem last night.
Worley looked worse than I have seen this season.
Some may blame that on coaching, others on
"he simply had a bad night".

I feel UF exposed how to play D against us
and we will see this from every decent D
we play this year.

No one. Since 1992, with the exception of maybe one time, no coach in the SEC has ever gone on to win an SEC title unless he won at least 9 games in year two......Jones ain't winning 9 games in year two......not sure Jones is gonna win 5 games in year two.

Johnny Majors.

Only valid comparison that I can think of.

Outer Banks- I actually prefer when other SEC fans and coaches HATE our coach. That usually accompanies us routinely beating them.

Can't wait to hear the compliments out of Nick Saban this week while they're pounding us into the dirt. The opposing fans compliments, coaches compliments, "we're close", "we're a year away crap" is hard to listen too anymore without puking. Heard it all before during the Doolittle error... Not saying this is going to end up like that but it's definitely familiar..

We are the most sluggish up-tempo offense in the HISTORY of up-tempo offenses. We have absolutely no answer at quarterback this year OR NEXT! I'm not saying our coaching staff should be fired, but our gameplanning and our offensive play calling has been inept this year ... I don't care how many freshman we are playing. It is the coaches job to gameplan around the deficiencies on the squad, and they have simply done a piss poor job at that. I want Butch to succeed, and I love all the things he has done, but I'm not getting that ... "oh, well when we're a little more mature and have a quarterback, we will really start making some noise because ...". I just don't see that light at the end of the tunnel, the way I truly did see, or thought I saw, that light at times last year. Again, I'm not asking for coaches to be fired, but I am asking to see change in philosopy because we are digressing ... not improving.

I have some SEC alum friends too ... and their feedback to me is "you better be glad you played Georgia when you did" because they would beat us like Ole Miss did now .. WITHOUT GURLEY?? I despise Georgia and Richt, but give them credit ... that team has vastly improved week to week this year in the face of adversity. We have not. That is the sign of a solid coaching staff ... improvement week to week. We do not have that. I support Butch, but our team is not getting better.

Seems like Déjà Vu all over but one thing I see is help is coming and didn't see that with the last coach
