I meant to make this thread after the exhibition games b/c I attended them both, but just wasn't able to.

I have to admit publicly, that in our debates regarding Dane Bradshaw, you were right. I still think you undervalue Dane, but Tyler Smith is ALL man, and he will make us exponentially better.

Tyler is going to be the key to this team. He is a great passer, a good scorer and good defender. I like his attitude and his willingness to get dirty.

All in all, just wanted to give you the credit you were due. We will be a much stronger all around basketball team with Tyler in Dane's spot.

Dane did make some nice contributions though, like him or not.

I'm pretty confident that one of the first people to admit that is a huge upgrade would be Dane Bradshaw. As I've said many times, my problem wasn't with Bradshaw. It was with the fans who built him up to be something he wasn't.

Hat....have you had a chance to see Derrick Rose at Memphis yet?

Looks like the real deal to me....and I don't think I'm just buying into the hype...

Who does he remind you of? I was trying to think of a PG that was that all around gifted and I couldn't

Derrick Rose will be the best player in America at his position by the end of the year. The best comparison I can come up with is Isiah Thomas, acknowledging Rose is bigger than Zeke was.

I have seen Rose play 2 games now. There is just something about this kid. I mean, he just takes over the whole game. I see why there was alot of talk here in Memphis about him just playing ball for one year. Im thinking about going to NY next week just to watch him play some better teams and to see how he does. The kid is the real deal. JMO.

Tennessee slows the Arkansas running game more than the Hogs impede the UT passing game. Vols win easy.

There is no reason UT should lose this game. It could happen and will be closer than it should due to the ability of #5 to finish strong. A multiple LB spy set could slow him down.

I've just seen too many games where we leave the middle wide open ...I don't know where the LB is..but he isn't at home. I'm hoping that this is because he is blitzing...which if all goes well, he won't have to do today all that much...but geez...wide open holes at the D-line and no LB there to stop him = a whole bunch of hards for DMac and Jones.... I just hope our offense can 1 up them.

Hat, were you suprised that Temple came out strong on us as they did? I was suprised at our level of defense so soon. I guess I shouldnt have been considering it sometimes takes a moment to mature an offensive identity when you have new players starting.

I wish I felt the same. We have only slowed one run game down, UGA, and they were a more standard I-formation running team. Arky has 2 DB's out, so we should score a lot. However, we have no answer on D for McFadden and Jones. I hope you are right. My fear is that we load up to stop the run, and Dick looks like an All-American throwing the ball against us, as JPW did. Plus, if McFadden lines up in the wildhog formation, Chavis gets dazed and confused. We couldn't stop ULL, and they have nobody 1/10th as talented as McFadden and Jones.

I wasn't surprised Temple was prepared. Fran Dunphy is a solid coach. Inge appears to be developing into a nice third option. If Olmos, et al give them some help in the post, they can finish in the top half of the A-10.
