I think Self is one of the 10 best coaches in America.
I THINK he's a good basketball coach, but he always seems to find a way to let me down. I absolutely loved him at Tulsa and thought the Illini were getting the best of the bunch, but of late his teams look underwhelming too often.

All right hat...since you're the basketball guru and apparently I'm in love with Tyler Hansbrough answer me this...

Hansbrough....overrated or correctly rated?

And please keep in mind that I'm not talking about his potential to get better or how he will do in the NBA....

I'm just talking about him as a college basketball player...in particular for the upcoming season

Hansborough is is a good college player. I don't think he's the kind of player who leads his team to a title.

Hat,

Where do you foresee aTm? Next year they'll have a new coach (man I miss Gillispie already), decent returning big men, good "2" gaurds. any chance at another sweet 16?

I think A&M will be very good. Turgeon is a very good coach, he's not Gillispie but he's close. I think A&M is the second best team in the Big XII. Texas is also going to be better than everyone thinks.

you bet, Texas lost Durant and there the list ends. They are a well coached team and I think this little rivalry is going to heat up on the B-BALL court for sure. I'm glad you see potential in Turgeon. I saw him out with his family not too long ago at dinner. Very crowded place, but he was talking to fans and was very approachable. Thats a must here in College Station.

I don't understand all of the love for UCLA. Yes they have talent and yes Howland will have them screaming on D, but how do they score and where is their post play coming from? and why Kansas? who there do you fear?

UCLA is certainly a sound defensive squad, and the teams that beat them last year seemed to beat them at their own game (kept the possessions down, forced them into bad shots) of course they were also pretty bad from the free-throw line in four of the five losses (if memory serves correct). The loss of Aflalo would hurt anyone, and as bad as Mata was on the offensive end, he was a pretty damn good defensive player.

With all that said, considering the talent that Howland has brought in, and the talent returning as compared to the rest of the PAC 10, it is still their conference to lose. By the time March rolls around they will still be a hard team to beat in the tourney.

UCLA's post play will come from Kevin Love.
he just has to prove it. I think there are a lot of teams that will be tough IF some of the players grow into their potential, but I just haven't seen it yet. Love should be stout, but again, he has to prove it.
