Many people on here are just so full of it, we have a ways to go but the folks claiming we are 4 or 5 years away are just blowhards that don't know crap. Pruitt may or may not turn it around, I have seen the improvement in individual units. It's our O-line more than anything that is stopping our drives. Our Qb is improving, our Rb position is improved and our Wr are making plays and getting better. People that compare scores and games are making a grave mistake. Just look at Texas, they got boat raced by Maryland who got boatraced by Temple and now Texas is playing USC toe to toe. People can be critical or point out our problems on the field without being so belligerent about it, it's like they revel in pointing out how bad we are. There are positives and negatives, the most important game is the next one. People can minimize what a victory over Florida would do for us all day long but the fact is it's a important game and a winnable game if we play to our potential. GBO!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with the coaches. We don't have the players. We do have some good players that will get better.
Enjoy the increments of improvement but we are heading for the shredding machine which is the SEC.
Get behind the team and support the players and quit acting like you know more than these coaches by being critical all the time. It's going to take 3 years.
If you can't get behind the team then take a couple years off from football and check back in ocassionaly

This is spot on. We are about to go thru a very rough few weeks.

The next few weeks are not Pruitt's fault.

This crap started because of Mike Hamilton. TN is still feeling the ramifications of his decisions. CJP, I believe, is the right guy but he needs players in a bad way. Two maybe three years we will be competitive again. AL & GA are loaded.

Not even started SEC play yet. SEC play is where the opposing D Lines are quick as grasshoppers. You think you have seen whiffing now, well just wait another week and the weeks following.
You people need to stop the constant whining. We got what we got and thats just the facts.
Pruitt is the man and Helton calls good plays....sorry if the don't all work...
I'm all in for this whole team and thier great coaches.
So just enjoy the great runs and some good D at times and some good catches that are made.
You people just have to face it that we are 3 years away..
Amen you are spot on. As much as I love my Vols. This team is garbage. We have nothing in the trenches. Absolutely no rush on defense. Games are won and lost in the trenches. Time to face the facts. WE are awful !!!!

2 fumbles and putting in backup qb in 2 minute offense cost a possible 24 points. It’s not as bad as it seems
For me, if the fumble, backup qb, and penalties were the only issue, I would agree with you in that things aren't as bad as it seems. The problem I have is that we only made 4 of 13 3rd down conversions, against a very bad team in UTEP. That stat in and of itself is a HUGE problem going in to SEC play next week.

Are we hiring a real coach in three years?
Lol, this is a whole different conversation. What makes you so sure we will....the next time. Its kinda like "We'll get'em next year".

Always something.

Well, I was never sold on Dooley. Butch fooled me by showing the progress he did in year 3, but that's why I feel better about Pruitt.

Jones showed me progress by assembling a really talented bunch. Barnett, Hurd, Dobbs, Kamara, Kirkland... we had talent. And our record got better.

But what we heard were catch phrases and excuses. "I was looking at the chart". We were changing to a new offensive scheme and told we just didn't understand it. Us dumb Tennessee hicks just didn't understand.

With Pruitt, he is saying the same things we are. He's saying, 'You know, we just don't play very good'. He points out specific ways we are doing things wrong, and it makes sense.

Now, maybe he isn't the guy to win us National Championships. But I think he is the guy to get us back to playing fundamentally sound football. And that will be enough to change the culture and lay a foundation.

If we can give him 5 to 7 years, and decide he isn't the coach, we would have time to find the right person. And a foundation to build on.

God bless, Pruitt is about to coach his fourth game and the legions of the miserables are already planning to replace him. Continuity is the key to having a successful program, not replacing your coach every 5 years because your redneck fanbase gets angry.

Hamilton, Haslam, Cheek and the BOT have set us back 15 yrs. The cancers over on the hill have not been entirely cut out as of yet. Pruitt will need at least five seasons and the donors/paying fans have to keep pressure on the University to do the right things for this program.

There was a time when the gators scheduled at least two cupcakes to warmup for this game, and it always seemed we had at least two respectable opponents we had to focus on before preparing for florida. Not this year. We're healthy. We've likely been prepping for this one for the past two weeks. Should be a competitive game, and I anticipate a win.
