Post Fulmer, I pretty much hated all the hires we made.

I know he's grown as a coach, but Lane was an awful hire at the time.
Dooley....laughable, I would almost rather us taken a gap year with a interim coach.

For a short time, Butch fooled me and made me think I got that one wrong. His inexplicable ability to adjust his offense to his personnel finally showed what he was.

I know Kirby is an exception, but making the jump from assistant to head coach is a tall task in the SEC and Pruitt certainly wasn't up to it. He sure was an eloquent speaker though.

I didn't necessarily hate the JH hire, I just kinda shrugged and thought well, when you're a dumpster fire this is probably the best you can get. I thought maybe he was a guy that could get us up to 8 and occasionally 9 wins and would at best rebuild the roster somewhat and be a placeholder for a better coach down the line.

I hated being right about the previous guys and I love being wrong about Josh. He continues to surprise me and has shown to be an amazing recruiter. When I hear him speak I think this is a guy that means business, but at the same time I get the feeling his players would run through a brick wall for him.

I realized in another thread that Heupel is still operating on lower scholarship count. His staff has accomplished so much while handicapped.

TN future is bright.
Scholarships are all but irrelevant since NIL came along though because you can just give an NIL equivalent of a scholarship.

The Dooley hire was the killer. We could’ve recovered from the Kiffin miss if we make a good hire there. You’re right…an interim would’ve been far more appropriate.

EDIT: I count 10-8 vs. ranked teams. 2 losses to Bama, 3 losses to Georgia, Missouri last year and Ole Miss & Florida in 2021.

P.S. I can't read the article because it's behind a paywall.

So basically Heupel is undefeated against ranked teams not named Alabama or Georgia, because he's lost 5 times to them when they were ranked. Pretty impressive that he has defeated all other ranked teams, though I had thought Missouri was ranked last year.
They were. He has 8 losses to ranked teams. He’s 10-8, not 10-5.

If there's one thing I hate more than actual math, it's people who like to argue about math.

Please do not math-debate in the football forum. If you want to math-debate, go somewhere else, or take it private. Thank you for not math-debating in public.

Lulz. Maybe stay out of a thread where there could be people debating the maffs.

I love this place.
