wait a minute, he has not tried my grandma's sausage gravy poured over a hot biscuit or a bowl of grits...just sayin'

You sure he hasn't stopped by on the recruiting trail? The man gets around!

This guy may have olayed for Oklahoma but I think we have converted him to a VFL. If he is successful here I think he will want to coach here as long as possible.
Yup, hope we have a lifer. Would like to see him retire here after 300 wins and seven National Championships. Hey, if you are going to dream, might as well go big

Facts, every youtube video I see of him talking about his time with the vols he is loving it. Idk if that's just coaching talk or genuine. Either way I think we truly made him a VFL.

The last four have all SAID pretty much the same thing. With Heup though, it just feels true, not scripted.
As a former top level player, he thrives on that kind of energy. As a Gamer, he has to love it

On The Jeremy Pruitt Show, Pruitt said, with absolutely no enthusiasm, that running through the T was “different”. At the time, I liked Pruitt, but I remember thinking “that’s a bad sign”.

Your sausage gravy comment reminds me of a breakfast dish at Harpoon Harry's in Key West. It's called a Country Boy's Special. It's country fried steak topped with 3 scramble eggs topped again with white sausage gravy and served with your choice of toast. Had it 3 times in one week when we went to Key West this past June.

No vol coach ever enjoys the Coach’s show FWIW. 😂

I don't think that was his point, Tsar.

The comment wasn't about that show. It was about that former coach and our traditions.

His point was, Tennessee's head coach at the time showed absolutely no enthusiasm when asked to comment on one of our most iconic traditions.

If you're genuinely in love with that tradition, as Heup seems to be, that's the best. That's 10 out of 10.
But if you're not, and you nevertheless fake it well, as some others have done, well you do what you gotta do. 6 out of 10.
If you suck at pretending, and you're just bleh on what Vols consider important, 1 out of 10.

That last case was Pruitt.

I too remember that interview. My eyebrows went up when he gave that response.

Glad we got rid of him, and so cheaply.

Go Vols!

I understand. I am just saying. If they put me in Front of a Camera and start asking me questions, I am not going to show much enthusiasm about anything (unless they ask me why Linux is better than Windows 😂)

If Venables fails at OK, I expect to hear CJH’s name for that job as a serious candidate. UT has to pony up some serious cash to keep him.
I think he really like UT and he has a great relationship with the AD so that is a positive to keep him here.

I don't know if that will happen as you have to remember he was fired from there as a coach once already and it seems to have left a very bad taste in his mouth.

I think you would. Because you're ORANGE Tsar. You'd care deeply. You'd start gushing about how cool it is to run through the T, how it never gets old, how it's like being a gladiator before 102,455 (or whatever the new number is) of your favorite people.

Because you're a Vol.

Whether you love the show you're on or not, you would get starry-eyed talking about such iconic Vols traditions. You would.

Pruitt didn't even try to adapt to or become part of our culture. And it showed in that one response. It exposed him.
