It’s absolutely ridiculous to think a P5 school would rehire someone they fired, especially into a promotion from their previous position! Even if the person was a championship winning hero alumnus. They would be the laughing stock of college football! If it did happen, it would probably prove to be one of worst ideas in that university’s history!

I hope he is so good Tennessee has to jack him up there with Satan! If he's good enough I think big orange will pay the man.We shall see!

If Heupel does ok here how long will it be till his alma mater Oklahoma comes calling?

That worry will always be there.

Dang man ... on Day #1?

Honestly, if I could guarantee that CJH was snatched up by OU from us at some point, I'd take that right now! Losing a winner that OU would presumably want means something. I'm just not saying what that something is!

All I can say is we went through this with Butch and Michigan and Pruitt leaving for Bama—if Heupel proves himself to the extent that Oklahoma wants him then he will be leaving Tennessee much better than he found it and ready to go for a high caliber coach.

That bridge is burnt. And looking at his coaching tree; Snyder who begat Stoops, if he can turn around a program expect him to stay long term.

And fwiw, Oklahoma has only ever hired a head coach with previous HC experience twice, both lasting a single season ('66, '95).

Short post yet full of good info. All while being a first post.

Well done.

This would be a good problem to have. A highly successful coach in the SEC that is in demand.

It's a lot better than having to pay a fired coach over $100,000 a month for 3 years while he make $35,000 a year working for your arch rival.
