I'm loving what Josh Heupel is doing for us. I'm hoping he's the guy to take us to heights not seen since we had a General on the sideline.

But here's a truth: there is no coach in existence who can speak so eloquently and be so personable that we will like him if he's losing a lot of games. On the flip side, we'll put up with a whole lot of deep south accent, tortured grammar, limited vocabulary, and other inter-personal faults if the fella brings us championships.

So we can set aside the whole idea of a linkage between the two. Let's leave it at this: Josh Heuepl is clearly a bright guy. All things being equal, bright guys probably have a better shot at success in any field of endeavor than their dimmer brothers.

Go Vols!

It really comes down to recruiting doesn't it. Huepel has demonstrated that he can put together a competent staff. He's demonstrated that he can develop players. He's demonstrated that he's a very good game planner and sideline playcaller. He's demonstrated that he has the right temperament and emotional maturity for his position. All thats really left to prove is can he and his staff recruit enough talent to compete for divisional and conference titles.

If I'm being totally honest, I don't think SEC and National championships are in our future for a good...long...while. We as fans are going to have to accept a new reality that this will not be a 2-3 year rebuild. I think Harbaugh at Michigan is a good model for us to look to, as to what we should expect here. It has taken him 6 years to get Michigan over the hump. I believe realistically thats what it will take Huepel to get us to seriously contending for the SEC. So in the meantime, lets just enjoy the journey and celebrate getting back to winning seasons and consistently earning bowl appearances!

Accent and grammar are different. Accents are great. Poor grammar is not. And it’s correctable.

Agreed.

Then again, the signature element of Pruitt's speaking style, the word 'aight,' is 100% an accent effect ('all right' condensed). And that's one of the first things folks mention when they want to talk about Jeremy sounding stupid when speaking publicly. So. *shrug*
