Heupel Love

I think Heupel knows exactly what he is doing on both offense and defense. He doesn't have the players to slog it out for 4 quarters, so he scores as many points as fast as possible knowing that if the defense gets a stop here and there they will or can win. If the defense doesn't get the stop, he knows they can drive down and either score or get in field goal range with less than a minute to play in the game. I was wondering why we waited to blitz on defense until it was needed on that last Kentucky drive, I don't think he wanted to show that hand earlier in the game so they couldn't adjust and know how to handle it.

We sure didn't drive down and score in the last minute of the game vs Pitt or Mississippi.

I've got to say......from this past Spring when we were getting verbally abused from most corners of the football world to a place now where there is actually credible talk of Coach Heup being in the conversation for SEC COY, well that has been an amazing journey. I am so grateful for the man who came in talking about "winning now" and wouldn't rest on the usual mantra of "just wait until I get my guys in here". Its part of the reason this team will always be one of my favorites. Now, to be honest, I am still getting accustomed to this fast break offense, and I am not fully sold that this is the way to glory, I am certainly giving CJH the time to put his system firmly in place and see just how far he can take us. But for now, THANK YOU Coach Heup for believing we could be and would be winners again. Still a long way to go, but so great to be headed in the right direction.

I would pump the brakes a little; I remember people not long ago saying Pruitt might be Saban's replacement. Look how that turned out.
Agreed. The proof of the pudding will be recruiting which is a separate issue from actual coaching. Dopes like Ogeron can excel at it and do nothing with the talent. But, even the best coaches need good athletes.

People dread playing us right now.

Yes they do! Not predicting it....buttt if Georgia turns it over a couple times early and we should fall into a 3 score lead and they get frustrated and start pressing and throwing it every down and not so accurately, leading to a shoot out, I like our chances. The most likely case is they just ground and pound on us and by 3rd qtr. our D is spent. Sooner if our O is 3 and out much. Unless they do turn it over, I like them scoring 42 when its all over. I just don't know what we can expect to score on them. My best guess is 17-21. So through my orange glasses I can see us in a 38-35 upset of the year, and my reality look is at 42-20 them.

I will TRULY believe when CJH wins the SECCG!! He can be a good coach... or a GREAT coach!

I'm beginning to believe in him. Hope we can keep him. Lincoln Riley seems to be approaching his 'sell by' date at O.U.

Why go to OU and play in the West when you can stay at Tennessee (be an icon) and play in the East?

if you can't see the difference...I can't help you.

The difference between the coaches is irrelevant to whether or not anyone should be worried about another school snatching Heupel away, 9 games into his first season at UT.

Heupel has an $8 million dollar buyout prior to December 15th, 2022, and in spite of him doing some good things in his first season, he's done nothing so great as to warrant believing that a school would pay UT $8 million dollars for him on top of paying him $6-7 million annually in salary.

We just need depth and talent on defense and keep recruiting really good QB's. I think he can scheme the offense up, but we need the talent on D to win the SEC.
