Heupel is hiding his offense for now

I hope CJH didn't hide his offense in the same place Lane Kiffin hid his maturity while he was at UT. He'll never find it.

Where’s the QB competition? I heard a loud message to Hooker and Bailey. Regardless of how bad Milton looks you aren’t going to get a chance to get any opportunity.

Yes, he's hiding a team that should have scored 50+ points on one of the worst teams in CFB. He's going keep it under wraps until the UGA, UF, and Alabama games.

Once UT is playing those games, he's going to unleash his high powered offense on the SEC and take the world by surprise.

Joe Milton is going to be like, "psyche, here's my true power" and not over throw every reciever on the field.

The Vols are going 8-0 in the SEC, but lose to Tenn Tech and South Alabama, which kills their playoff chances.

Have some work to do with Milton for sure. I do think a bit of play calls are not being used but we have to be better than we have been tonight. Can’t miss those bombs we have missed and Milton has to hit passes.
Milton doesn't have to be that accurate on the bombs. He can get it to almost any spot on the field, just put some air under it...nice 7-iron instead of a 4-iron.

First game under the lights after a crazy last year and a half, so I'm going to take it easy on the criticism.

We won handily, played organized and fast on offense, and had two RBs with 100+ yards.

New coach, new QB (and multiple new starters), new system . . . . Expect some hiccups. I don't think we can really judge anything until we get well into the schedule.
I knew as soon as I left the stadium there would be idiots on here talking about how “terrible” we were after winning by 30+ points and never giving up a TD

I don't believe we are hiding things. Milton looked lost at times especially when they dropped 8 in coverage. He had plenty of time, but was too indecisive. I was concerned if we didn't score more than 50 against them, so I am really concerned for the season. Next week is a loss if the pass game doesn't improve.

Just don't throw a comebacker-out-route for 3 yards when it's third and long. We watched that act for 3-4 years.

I don't think he is hiding anything but I seriously doubt that Joe Milton could grasp the entire offense in fall practice. I would estimate 60% at this point. Maybe he will have the total playbook by the UF game. I was disappointed he did not hit some deep throws after running over them with the short stuff on the 1st 2 drives. Too many times just standing there with no decision, either the receivers were not getting open or he could not find the open one. I look at this game as a scrimmage, same thing next week.

Ran all over them if we had any type of passing game would be a fairly good team. We won't be able to run like that on the very good teams and that is all we had last night.

If I didn't know the score id guess we lost last night by reading here. 38-6 is a rout...and it could be that Bowling Green is a decent team. Just cuz they were bad last year doesn't mean they are bad this year. They could win the MAC for all we know. However...Milton didn't look good. He is what he is. He is what he was at Michigan. HB has to be better than that. He wouldn't hold onto the ball forever like Milton did for one thing and I would bet he doesn't overthrow those deep balls either. We need a change at QB or we will get killed by Florida..Bama and Georgia. That should be obvious.

It wasn’t hiding anything. We always have fans that think our coach is some sort of genius. He choose the guy that was a big bruising (running back basically) over other guys that likely would’ve been much better at passing the ball. Bailey would’ve thrown for 400 years against that team. I believe he should be our qb

Most of the time, the WRs were lined up so far outside, it was impossible for them to get in a route. The offense was set up to just get more defenders out of the box so they could run the ball. Also, first time we were able to see Milton but last night, everything he did was what the Michigan fans were telling us with the exception of interceptions.

Is CJH hiding things, or is this real? I just don’t know? The offensive line is protecting Milton. Hummm?? I wonder if more adjustments is coming next week? Week after as well. Call me crazy, but we will see the passing game come alive. The running backs Small and Evans will be fine. The offensive line I believe can block on off tackle space runs. We’ll be fine!
My question is rather or not he is hiding his deep passing game? We surely did not see it last night.

Yea he is hiding it like Dooley did, like Butch did, like Pruitt did in each of their openers
Well, we did not lose the game and we won by more points thane have in a number of years. In addition, we were able to make adjustment in the game plan and easily controlled the game in the second half.

Dooley and Jones blew out cupcakes too. And at the time the same crap was said about how we were "holding back".

At some point it just becomes comical how much that excuse is trotted out.

Looking back it seems they ran the same formation all night and only a handful of different plays from it. It looked pretty basic.
I agree with what you said the issue is they couldn’t hit on just those few plays so what does it matter if there are other looks of those handful don’t work? I hate it but this might be a long year.
