Heup to LSU noise and where does TN job rank?

Oh hell yes. Tampa is the white trash capital of Florida (although one could insert the name of any number of other Florida cities).
Yes but Tampa is not white trash capital. It’s very diverse and exploding since Covid. Plus, it’s more arrogant and vain than Miami!

You can verify that on 98 Rock page listen to “First date updates” lol

Youn Don’t have to read post. It’s a simple comment about a reputable reporter/journalist who reports SEC news. 104.5 plays the interview a second time so…. I found it interesting as I thought most outsiders didn’t think much of Heup. Plus comments about TN as a destination for other coaches.

Chris Phillips, a converted Gamecocks troll, is suddenly a reputable journalist?

This is an all time chum job.

I think lots of schools would kill for our AD/HC combo.

Phillips doesn't know. Nobody knows. JH gets a long leash here, along with a cozy $10 million dollars a year. He gets 3 years max down there to do a complete rebuild and make a deep run/win a natty before the coonasses run him out. They literally ran one of their own out of town 2 years after winning it all.

I support Heupel and think he's a good coach but if he left because of some yo-yo's on a message board then he's a big p**s and we didn't need him anyway.
Exactly. If he’s bothered by keyboard warriors then he needs to go on.

I don’t think he is. I think he’s bothered that he can’t make the SEC championship game. Hoping he gets over that hump soon bc I think he’s done a great job here and don’t want rumblings in the fanbase to become louder.

Stop speaking in absolutes. Nobody knew
Saban and Smart would be what they became. Ask yourself this and be honest. When Smart was first hired, did you honestly believe he would have won like he has?
Smart is a very good coach but has benefited greatly from Florida & TN being in turmoil almost the whole time he's been at Georgia.

Plus he's benefited greatly from Saban getting every coach under the sun fired while he was at Bama. Now with NIL you can see everyone catching up.

If his agent is doing his job, yes. The market is going up big time this year & JH is gonna benefit from it just like the others.
Yeah if I made 9 million a year I wouldn’t give a damn what anyone said either ! Hell I worked 46 years and made decent money but I was lucky 🍀 to make half of that 9 million for 46 years of getting up everyday and commuting 2 hrs and working 12 hr shifts. Hell heupel has a golden rainbow over his head🙏🏻

Just for some perspective…In the last 10 years LSU has fired TWO NC winning football coaches and an AD who hired a NC winning baseball and Women’s basketball coach. I love the vibe down there and their fans are awesome but that place is wild.
CJH's Vols boat raced LSU in BR. That's a nice skin on the wall.

Correct. Georgia was not a great job till Kirby made it one. When he's gone, won't be such a great job. Butch beat him in Kirby's 1st year.

The NegaVols would be to blame. I hate all NegaVols.
If Heupel is sitting around listening to fans, then that explains why we are performing so badly and if he thinks LSU fans we be tolerant of not making the playoffs in year 5 of his tenure, you’re fooling yourself.

I’m @ lunch listening to 104.5 zone as they interview Chris Phillips and the LSU job. He said there are rumors that Heup is on the LSU list and LSU is on Heup’s short list of other college jobs.

He then stated TN fans don’t give Heup the credit he deserves, instead complaining about not making playoffs. And, TN is not a perennial playoff team yet a 3-4 loss team.

When asked he said TN is not a top six destination for head coaches. He said we would fall in top half. He also said he wouldn’t include Florida and unsure about aTm.

Surely Heup won’t get an offer but he was correct about Napier and Kelley, too, losing his job and the fact LSU trying to find just cause. He said Heup would listen to LSU.

I don’t see it but I am blinded by orange glasses- esp. when he said LSU is top six job - not TN.

Ohio state, Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas, USC, Oregon, and I think Notre Dame were his top coaching destinations.

Thoughts?

Edit- I listened to the interview again. Phillips said he’s heard Heup would entertain leaving TN and definitely listen to LSU. Plus, LSU admin is confident Heup would leave TN for LSU if offered the job. The outside noise by the minority of our fan base is annoying as apparently Heup hears the 💩. Could you imagine him leaving for LSU and taking Brandon Faizon w/ him?
Yes I could imagine him leaving for LSU and taking recruits with him. It would be horrible. LSU is a better job than Tennessee. To me? No it’s not!!! But nationally? Absolutely! We can’t win championships here. We have the best chance since we can legally pay players to come here. And I don’t know why Knoxville campus is not appealing to players but for the most part is has not been. It’s incredible to me but I love Tennessee.

That being said, I don’t mind keeping Heupel because I’m ok with 8-4, 9-3, and maybe an occasional 10-2 and he’ll give us just that. The sec is too brutal for middle of the pack teams like us Arkansas and Mississippi State and that’s who we are.
