Heup Evolving

We played clean, with only 25 penalty yards. (One being intentional for punting space)

Penalty yards have shot us in the foot in years past, especially on the road.

This is a testament to good preparation and detail. Heup is slowly evolving as a head.
Agreed - but Gainesville was much quieter than at any time during the past 22 years…

I don’t care if it was the Florida fighting pee wee hermans out there, that was a phenomenal game plan and execution of that game plan Saturday night. One I will cherish for a loooong time as anything can happen in a rivalry game. It often take a few recruiting cycles to break a mindset but all those kids on the hill know we are now floridas daddy. Some went 3-2 against them, some 3-1, some of the younger guys are even undefeated against Florida in their time here 2-0 or 1-0.

Good for them for breaking the mold even spilling over to some of the younger fans in here. I hear a lot of no big deal Florida sucked etc and I’m not hating on that at all. Actually love that.

But I am here to tell you IT IS A BIG DEAL.

GO VOLS!!!

I’m glad to see him evolve where there is opportunity or areas for improvement. I hope he reflects on his decisions at the end of the half and end of games in regards to timeouts and clock management. It has been consistently bad all year.

For him not to use that timeout with 25 seconds left before halftime on Saturday and take 3 shots into the endzone is indefensible.

I was glad to see us adapt to what the defense was giving us. They were intent on taking away the deep ball so we ran the ball and went for a short passing yards that turned into bigger gains. I believe we could’ve scored 60 or 70 on them if we wanted to it was very evident that we went vanilla in the third quarter.

I agree we have looked cleaner this year with less penalties in most gamea. Last year showed Heupel was capable of evolving. He game planned to our strengths by slowing down the offense, running the ball, and letting our defense win games for us.

Dude's gonna win a LOT of games before he retires.

I also note that someBOOdy was not on the team anymore and I have to question if that had any salutary effect on the locker room and ability to lock in and focus.
Maybe, but Boo seemed more like a loner than a leader of any disgruntled faction. I think winning in the Swamp was the focus of the last two weeks and we were playing downhill after the first two scores.

I honestly think that last false start was intentional as well for the runoff.

The main thing I saw was that we went much slower to make sure everyone was on the same page. I liked that we started several plays from the huddle.
