I apologize in advance for this somber thread. I needed to vent and figured an anonymous message board would be the least painful avenue.
My grandmother passed away this morning at 87 years old. She lived a life of service unto other people. She worked as a nurse, a teacher, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
As a small boy I stayed with her and my grandfather for weeks at a time during the summer. I stayed with her during the 1984 Olympics. I had just broken my leg and she took such good care of me.
My grandmother taught me to read and she taught me to write. She told me that I shouldn't use foul language because it makes you sound ignorant. She taught me how to tie my shoes and taught me how important reading the Bible daily is.
She made the best breakfast. I used to love to wake up to the smell of crackling bacon, eggs, and toast made just right.
I'm going to miss you, Mamaw. I know you are in a far more enviable place than I sit today. Thank you for all you did for me and my brother. We will always love you.
