Here's to the WORST FANS in the SEC...

On behalf of the majority of Gator fans who are decent people I would like to apologize for the *******s. There's really no excuse for it. It's like the Bear used to say, "act like you've done it before."

I always enjoy talking to the other teams' fans at games. If they win I say "nice game" and if we win I say "nice game". It's what we did when we played sports as kids, why do we feel like it should be different for frown people who didn't even play?

I hope your team does well the rest of the season. I thought you guys played really well today. Good luck the rest of the year.

Nebraska would be near the top of my list too. Of course Vandy fans aren't bad. They let their opponent have most of the seats in their stadium, and often will start pulling for the visiting team in the 3rd quarter.

I also agree with everything said above about Florida fans. After 4 trips to Gainesville, that is the only stadium to which I will never return. After being pelted with, cups, oranges, trash, and cups of urine, I have no desire to go back. Guess I'm just a whiner...

Here's a tip if you ever go back. Dont buy tix through UT. They sit the visitors next to the students. Stupid I know. Wait until right before kickoff and buy them on Lemerand drive. You can get tix under face value normally and sit on the adult side of the stadium.

You guys are welcome. I don't know if you go to the games or not. If you do I guess you must sit away from the idiots or are one yourself. I am a vol fan as much as anyone and I go to football games to cheer and make noise. Sorry if that makes me not welcome here.

You need to be courteous of other fans. It's OK to make noise at the right time, but don't be an idiot about it. Also standing up means your probably blocking someone else's view. Just because you buy a ticket does not mean you just bought the whole stadium. It's not your house. You are a guest. Act like it.

My first year as a student I went to the Florida game and some of the Florida fans started cheering when one of our players got hurt.

To this day I still get boiling mad about that.

I have been to dozens and dozens of games in my 20 years of life and they are still the ONLY fanbase I have ever seen that cheers when a player gets hurt.

There is no excuse for that none

More folks like you would go a long way toward improving my views on Florida. Every team has idiots -- and Tennessee is no exception. Nice to see that not all are the same as the ones I've encountered.

Thanks for a respectful post. I understand that and if asked to sit down by some elderly people so thy could see I would have done so politely even though I wouldn't have wanted to. But the first I heard aout being in the way was a guy threatening me. The reason I bought tickets was to help cheer the vols on and contribute to the home field advantage. I do not drive 6 hours round trip to sit down and cheer only when a big play happens for us. I feel like every play when we are on defense the crowd should be up and yelling, but most seem to disagree.

While sitting in my seat at the game when Florida took a 14 point lead the first time, A classy gator fan stood up and flicked everybody in our section off for no reason. We weren't doing anything to him nor ribbing him in any way. Just decided to throw the bird.. CLASSY.. Also I can confirm that I did indeed see Florida fans in JORTS!!! yes, JORTS... so for the Florida faithful, keep track of your own kind its pretty embarrassing. On a more serious note, I must get the fans leaving in the middle of the third quarter off my chest. They left in the middle of the third against UT-Martin, Oregon, and Florida. If you have concerns over traffic, plan you day a little better or just don't come at all, give you ticket to someone who will stick around. Our team did not give up on us today, but we showed them that we will still give up on the no matter what. People complain about not having as much talent as Florida and Bama, how awesome does Neyland look to the recruits that sit behind the field goal post and see half the stadium clearing out in the middle of the third because we are struggling or hit a rough patch.. They will not come to have bandwagon fans half-way support them. All year long, I get on this forum and see people counting down the days until football season (myself included) and then football season is upon us and nobody wants to watch a full game. The team needs the fans in the stands and we need to look impressive for these prospective players to want to be here. Florida is always a big visiting weekend because of the atmosphere that surrounds it, Im so happy my faithful UT fans showed the recruits how we really feel about the players... THUD.

I completely agree.. I live in daytona beach, and we drove up for the game, and I told my wife after we left that all you vol fans up here had it easy, because uf fans don't just take a couple days and five you crap about it they rub your face in it all year... And we have to live with it...

That being said, when I got to the game today, to my dissatisfaction, I messed up and got tickets on the visitor side, so I was in section B row 9 next to some tenn people but in the fla section... And to my surprise there were 3 or 4 very nice fla fans around us that were very class about the game... There was even one guy that allowed my daughter to punch him in the chest 4 or 5 times cause she wanted to give the gator on his shirt a knuckle sandwich... So to the few (very few) classy Florida fans, my hats off to you.. It was a good hard fought game

I've read about this sitting/standing conflict, but had never seen it for myself until last week at the Oregon game. Two guys a few rows down were standing the whole time and getting *****ed at by a couple behind them and an elderly man a few seats to my right. My personal rule has always been to stand when those in front of me are standing, and sit otherwise. I would never complain about people standing - the Vols need the fans to be noisy and involved.

Look around. If you're the only one standing, then maybe it's time to sit. You can still yell. But don't block the people behind you. Some people are not into yelling the whole game. Mt husband is like that. He's as passionate a Gator fan as there is, but he watches the game intently and yells only at a big play. He doesn't mind people who scream the whole time, just don't block his view or he'll probably say something not too nice.

I sit right behind a tunnel so I would be that guy who starts standing first. I can understand a little about not standing while we are on offense but no excuse for sitting while we are on defense. One positive is no wave attempt today.
