Hey, I was in Y9 as well. Often times I stood up and yelled/motioned for others to do so as well. People just sat there. At one point a cop came and talked to a guy because he was standing up too much and blocked an old lady's view. I'm all for everyone seeing the game if they want, but if you can't stand and cheer whenever you want, that's pathetic.

I agree with you 100%. I was rarely sitting during the game. There was a young kid and his mom sitting next to me so all 3 of us were up a lot screaming even the usher that sits the familys of the players was jumping up and down screaming, but the UCLA game was a lot louder, I do not understand that home sec opener WTF? I will miss Georgia Game will be out of town for work. I will be back in Tuscaloosa when we play BAMA lets go and support them.!!!!

What is this new place they've put where Neyland used to be? A place where fancy LED screen and skyboxes full of luxury have replaced Southern lore and a healthy sense of fear. Why do I feel like I'm sitting on a giant billboard who's making me get up and get my drinks and hot dogs now? Why is the guy sitting next to me not the old man who used to tell me stories of past UT greats, but some annoying f*** lawyer from Nashville who's more concerned his princess doesn't hear me say a swear word when something goes wrong and gets annoyed when people try to cheer? Why do I feel like soon he'll have my tickets too......as soon as they price me out?

I think what we're seeing is the pu**yfication of a state treasure. It makes me sick:sick:

AMEN Brother! Give me the old Neyland Stadium back....

It's hard for the crowd to get into the game when most possessions in the 1st half are 3 and out.

I was there with a carload of Auburn fans and sat next to two who had never been there. They said it was the loudest stadium they had ever been in. That being said, AU fans pretty much took over the stadium by the end of the 3rd.

Crompton is contagious. Everyone can defend it all they want. The fact is that everytime he takes the field, a little bit more air is deflated from the crowd. It's sick really. Would you like my tickets for next week??

Yes, my parents have been dying to get to go to a game. Just send me a pm.

The crowd got into it at times. I did notice that much of the stadium cleared out prematurely in the 4th. Parts of the student section stayed very thick, but the rest of the stadium was sparse (except the away sections).

there were 2 college girls sitting next to me texting. the whole game. they didn't even look up at the score. i told them to cheer or go home. they got up a couple of time but then quit. i go frustrated, i had to switch seats with my family to sit away from. i let them what i thought about them as i left. it just made me sick.

there is something bad that's happening at neyland and i'm afraid it's going to get worse.

Did it make you feel any better yelling at a couple girls?

I stand and yell most of the games but I don't tell other people what to do.

Though I don't like the fans who sit on their hands I despise the liquored up wanna be frat boys who get in the old couples and kids faces and tell them to yell or get it.

Get over yourself.

You can tell by alot of the post' on here that Tennessee loyalty has disappeared . If the team dose'nt win then the fans don't cheer . I think the new generation of fans are more about the "product" on the feild as opposed to love of team . The game has definatley changed .

SEC opener at home against Aubarn, great weather, full moon and ... the crowd was weak. lots of empty seats and lot of folks sitting on their hands.

Vol Walk was the most anemic i've ever seen. many fans, but very sedate.

apathy has been building for a while. a competitive product on the field will work wonders, but it is going to be a long climb out.

Wow the crowd was pathetic last night. The absolute worst I've seen for a SEC game since my freshman year in 1988. My throat is raw from yelling and people were turning around and looking at me like I was interrupting their tea party. The defense needed us last night with that insane offense they were facing, and Vol fans.......we weren't there for our boys.

Does anyone remember when 1000s of cups used to fly off the upper decks in Neyland? Dozens of rolls of toilet paper? Anyone remember beach balls being batted around the stadium? Does anyone remember when the place use to literally shake and sway from side to side? Does anyone remember someone standing right next to you and you not being able to hear them? Anyone remember smelling whiskey in the air........and bottles being busted on opponents helmets? Anyone remember state troopers lining the sidelines in absolute fear of our crowd?

What is this new place they've put where Neyland used to be? A place where fancy LED screen and skyboxes full of luxury have replaced Southern lore and a healthy sense of fear. Why do I feel like I'm sitting on a giant billboard who's making me get up and get my drinks and hot dogs now? Why is the guy sitting next to me not the old man who used to tell me stories of past UT greats, but some annoying lawyer from Nashville who's more concerned his princess doesn't hear me say a swear word when something goes wrong and gets annoyed when people try to cheer? Why do I feel like soon he'll have my tickets too......as soon as they price me out?

I think what we're seeing is the sissyfication of a state treasure. It makes me sick:sick:

On the trolley ride over, an Auburn fan excitedly told me that he had been to a UT/Auburn game in the rain in the 90's and it was the loudest stadium he had ever been in. He said they had been to all the SEC stadiums. He had brought his family to see how crazy Neyland got.....especially at night. I was swelled with pride on the way over to watch the game last night after talking with him. I cordially let him know I'd been to Auburn 3 times and they had a great stadium as well. I bet he was shocked when he arrived to our 102,000 seat mausoleum.

When my tigers get a bye week, I'll get some friends together, dress 'em in orange, and really piss of that lawyer sitting next to you.

Neyland is not the Neyland that we all grew up with. Since Hamilton took over, things have slowly been changing. Now we realize that it is a different environment than we once knew. Granted that the on field sucess has something to do with it. But the prices are the main culprit. The prices have risen so much that the crowd is completely different that it once was.

Does anyone know why no one throws the cups or the paper rolls any more? IVremember when I was a kid and the cups would rain down from GG, FF, EE, etc. It was great. I remember buying the paper rolls on the way to the stadium and throwing them when UT scored. What happended to that stuff?

Crowd noise is vastly over-rated when playing SEC teams, IMO. Sure, it helps sometimes, but usually the players just blank it out. It probably does have some effect on the small teams not used to big-time stadiums. Talent and superior game plans are far bigger factors in a game being won or lost at home. Miami used to be unbeatable at home, but had one of the quietest stadiums I've ever seen.

I truly think it is more for your home team now to try and get them motivated to know that 100000 people are screaming for you and cheering....
